In 1999 Sam-shipping was founded to implement the new International Safety Management Standard for 6 vessels. Sam-shipping is the umbrella organization of these shipping company's: Rederij Alblas m.v. Alblas Rederij Sirenia m.v. Dolfijn Rederij De Noord m.v. Itasca Rederij Sambre m.v. Sambre Rederij Rio-Sal m.v. Sylvia Rederij Muonio m.v. Torne All ships have a Finnish ice-class. They usually sail in the Baltic, mainly to Sweden and Finland carrying timber logs, sawn timber, paper reels and wood pulp. The Sambre and Sylvia sail troughout the whole of Europe. Samshipping attempts to give her ships in a long term charter. The Alblas and the Torne have been sailing since 1996 with timber and paper products for UPM trough Pool Carriers. The Dolfijn en Itasca have been chartered by Pool Carriers from Hamburg for several years. The Sylvia is chartered by Wijnne en Barends. The Sambre is chartered by Schulte & Bruns.
