The main inducement was the extension of the River Saar enabling larger ships to navigate this river which connects to the European waterways and especially the growing importance of the port of Rotterdam for the industry in the German Saarland. TRANS-SAAR handles roughly 10 million tons in the port of Rotterdam and transport 2 million tons per barge and about 4,5 million tons by rail per annum. Started from scratch TRANS-SAAR developed with the means of a team of alert people into one of the major bulk forwarding- and ships agents in Rotterdam.
