Our Jones Act American Flag Vessels: Maybank Shipping, headquartered in Charleston, SC, owns three American flag RORO warehouse barges: The Helen S. with dimensions of 250' long, 80' wide, and 17' molded depth with interior loading space of 230' long, 72.5' wide, and 22' high, carrying 5,200 metric tons on 13.5' draft. The Helen II with dimensions of 278' long, 80' wide, and 18' molded depth, with interior loading space of 250' long, 72.5' wide, and 22' high, carrying 6,200 metric tons on a 14.8' draft. The Helen III with dimensions of 320' long, 80' wide, and 18' molded depth with interior loading space of 272' long, 73' wide, and 26.5' high, carrying 7,200 metric tons on 14.5' draft. All barges are equipped with two MACGREGOR hydraulic combination ramp/doors/ enabling a highly efficient roll-on/roll-off operation. The barges have door openings of 20' - 22' wide and 17' high. Ro/Ro ramps are 47' long. The unique warehouse style roofs are secured to ABS watertight binwalls and are constructed of Rubb material, a lightweight PVC-coated kevlar material which can withstand 110+ knot winds and all sea conditions. The translucent roof systems admit light, enhancing the work environment while loading and discharging. The barges are also equipped with state of the art blowers, ventilation, and lighting systems. In additon to the three aforementioned Ro/Ro warehouse barges, Maybank operates several US flag ships and barges on an as-needed basis, primarily for the purpose of serving U.S. exporters seeking EXIM Bank financing. Maybank also provides customers with deep draft U.S. Flag ships and ocean-going barges for the purpose of transporting wood chips, iron and steel products, and other dry bulk and breakbulk commodities moving in significant volumes.
