Since incorporation in 1979, Northern Airborne Technology Ltd. (NAT) has established itself as a leading manufacturer of specialized communication equipment for rotary-winged aircraft. Applications include Air Ambulance, Airborne Law Enforcement, Search & Rescue, Electronic News Gathering and more recently military and maritime programs. The manufactured product line features Audio Management Systems, FM Systems, Intercoms, P/A & Loud-hailer Systems, Data Interface accessories and Emergency Locator Beacons. In 1992, the Chelton Group (part of Cobham PLC in the UK) purchased NAT, expanding its avionics manufacturing capabilities within its own successful group of aerospace companies. Access to Chelton s military and international contacts has resulted in several high profile projects for NAT. In June 1996, NAT purchased the design and manufacturing rights to a line of locator beacons from MPR Teltech of Burnaby, BC and Alden Electronics of Westborough MA, USA. MPR Teltech provided the design and engineering of the beacon business while Alden Electronics provided the manufacturing and marketing. These beacons offered NAT a natural progression into the aircraft ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter) market and also added marine EPIRBs (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons) and land use PLBs (Personal Locator Beacons) to the production lines. In conjunction with the above acquisition, Northern Airborne Technology Marine Products was established to market and distribute the marine and land use beacons. NAT employed some personnel from Alden Electronics marine marketing department, with their extensive market knowledge, to establish routes of distribution and marketing of the marine and land use products. Since its inception NAT has broadened its distribution and marketing role to include several products which fit the GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety Service) suite of products and other safety related electronics programs. As members of RTCM (Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services) and NMEA (National Marine Electronics Association), NAT takes a very active roll in helping to shape the future of maritime and land use life saving safety programs. Northern Airborne Technology continues to develop avionics and other electronic products in response to varying industry demands and is proud that many of its products have earned the recognition as Industry Standard . At both NAT Ltd. and NAT we believe the company s quality of workmanship is surpassed only by its commitment to excellence on customer service and we will carry this commitment with us far into the next millennium.
