Nord-Sud Shipping, Inc. is a locally family owned and operated ship agency domiciled on the Mississippi River at Mile 147.5 AHP adjacent to Grandview Anchorage in Lutcher Louisiana. Initially opening doors in 1993 under the name of North American Agencies, Inc., in Gonzales Louisiana, the primary agency representation was petroleum cargoes, U.S. flagged vessels agents and PL-480 Title cargoes. In April 1999 Jeffrey & Lezlie Berthelot purchased an old antebellum home (Circa 1795) appropriately situated on two acres of land on the River Road of the Mississippi River in Lutcher Louisiana. As the home once boasted it's own wooden dock, in the early days before levee systems, the owner would accommodated paddle wheelers and the trade of goods between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, it was only right to renovate the home and preserve it's history for future generations. Nord-Sud Shipping relocated it's corporate office to Lutcher Louisiana in January 2000. Today, Nord-Sud Shipping enjoys a vast array of clientele with varied cargo operations. These clientele include a number of petroleum companies, vessel owners, vessel charterers, vessel time charterers, drill rig and ship owners, as well as cargo shippers and receivers. With Jeff Berthelot's 24 years in the ship agency business and our employees years of varied and vast experience, we have been successful in client and vessel representation with relation to vessel and cargo operations ranging from petroleum products, ores, minerals, coal, petcoke, grains and grain by-products, vegetable oils, chemicals, dry bulk, bagged cargoes, break bulk, heavy lift operations, shipyard calls, as well as offshore lighterings as well as servicing the needs of the U.S. offshore oil exploration and gas industry.
