T. PARKER HOST, INC. OBJECTIVE HISTORY LEADERSHIP GENERAL OPERATIONS LINER TRADES HUSBANDRY COAL TANKERS PASSENGER LINES LETTER FROM THE CHAIRMAN T. Parker Host, Sr., a life-long maritime leader at Hampton Roads founded T. Parker Host, Inc. in 1923. During the early years of the agency, Hampton Roads and other Virginia ports were primarily involved with bulk and parcel cargoes. Coal, then as now, was a major commodity, followed by grains, scrap and fertilizers. After World War II, a revitalized European economy stimulated the growth of liner services. In 1948, the founder's son, T. Parker Host, Jr., joined and continued his father's leadership role. The company then expanded to become a superior port agent for liner services handling all forms of general cargo and eventually representing major container lines. T. Parker Host, Inc. proudly continues to participate in the management of the port's phenomenal growth. Assuring third-generation management, Tom and David Host, sons of T. Parker Host, Jr., joined the company in 1977. For over 80 years, the company has provided professional and competitive services to a wide range of leading shippers and receivers. It handles a variety of import and export commodities throughout the ports, including grains, fertilizers, chemicals, scrap and clean and heavy oils. T. Parker Host, Inc. has also played a key role in coal exports, the major bulk commodity handled by the port. Its managers have assumed the responsibility of being strong, outspoken advocates for coal interests. Continually evolving and expanding with the times, T. Parker Host, Inc. opened its Baltimore, Maryland office in 1986. Its primary purpose is to better assist the customer in providing unified and coordinated efforts for shipments through Hampton Roads and Baltimore. T. Parker Host of Maryland, Inc. has risen to be one of the top agencies handling coal from the Port of Baltimore and is prospering in all other aspects of shipping. The trend has continued with the opening of T. Parker Host of Delaware, Inc. in August of 1999. Along with the expansion of the ports, T. Parker Host, Inc. continues to excel with an experienced and knowledgeable team. Updated with the latest technology, T. Parker Host, Inc. is still able to provide personalized service to each of its customers. Rich in tradition and experience, T. Parker Host, Inc. proceeds to concentrate on the present and the future. The company assures its customers that the promises made today will be kept tomorrow. T. Parker Host, Inc. has always represented several passenger liner operators. This has been a two-fold approach, handling ship repair calls and passenger calls. As Hampton Roads boasts numerous shipyards, some in operation for over 100 years, ships calling on various yards have consistently been a part of the T. Parker Host, Inc. business. Our relationship with the various superintendents and estimators have proven to make a line's dry-docking period successful. T. Parker Host, Inc. has also handled the calls of passenger vessels making day calls to local piers for shore excursions and also ships' calls for the loading and unloading of passengers and baggage for longer cruises. T. Parker Host, Inc. carries it a step further by not just being familiar with suitable berths for cruise vessels to berth, but also is operating agent for the Nauticus berth in downtown Norfolk. With the growth in the cruise industry, T. Parker Host, Inc. stands ready to provide full representation of passenger vessels' calls to Hampton Roads.
