Port: Samana Puerto Duarte Arroyo Barril Position: 19?11.90 N 69?27 W Description: One finger pier inside the protected Bay of Samana. Some use for cruise vessels and sporadic use for cargo. Navigation: Daylight only Draft at entrance channel: 35 Maximum draft and LOA permitted alongside finger pier: FWD 22 - AFT 38 - LOA 700 FWD 24 AFT 26 LOA 600 Length restriction: 700 Breadth restriction: No restrictions Air draft restriction: No restrictions Anchorage: Deep water anchorage available in several places in Samana Bay. It is highly recommended that the pilot be consulted for the best locations. Pilotage procedures: Pilot and Horbormaster can be contacted by VHF Channel 16. Pilot boards at Punta Balandra. The entrance channel is marked by 8 buoys. Pilot station: Towage: None available locally. If needed, must come from either Puerto Plata or Santo Domingo. Working hours: Mon-Fri 08:00-12:00 and 14:00-18:00. Sat 08:00-12:00 Equipment: None at Berths 1 and 2. Crane and conveyor belt system for gypsum at Berth 3. Storage: None. Water: Supplied from pipe on pier, at a rate of 6 MT/hr. Bunkers: By tank truck from Santo Domingo Ship repair: Some shore facilities for topside repairs are available. There is a small graving yard in the port, but the facilities are not the best. Please inquire at our Agency for more information. Medical facilities: First aid and emergency services only.
