DIXIE MACHINE, WELDING AND METAL WORKS, INC. is an established top side repair facility serving the New Orleans area since 1919 to the present time. Dixie Machine has Factory Trained Technicians for Diesel Engines and is able to handle all types of main engine and auxiliary engine repairs. Dixie Machine has the capabilities to perform all types of top side repairs on sea going Vessels of all sizes. Dixie Machine has the capabilities to perform line boring from 0" - 24" swing and lengths of 0" - 24 ft. long. We have bars of 6 ft., 12 ft. and 24 ft. in length. Dixie Machine has 1333 of wharfage on the Mississippi River located at mile 92.5. The upper end has a tower crane with 220 of reach and a 22-ton lift capacity and on the lower end has a 25 ton mobile crane with 105 of boom and a 20 ton mobile crane with a 80 boom. The Andry St. Wharf facility has a parking area. Also there is office space with all services to accommodate Owners, Classification Society and Underwriters. The main shop is located approximately 5 miles upriver from the pier, just 5 minutes from the World Trade Center. Dixie Machine has been in the same location for 78 years. Our brochures will give you important information stating our location and our capabilities. The following enclosures will list some of the machinery and equipment available to perform your repairs. Dixie Machine has the ability to assemble the personnel and equipment to perform repairs on a moments notice, whether the job is in the immediate area or 100 miles away. Transportation is not a problem. There is a fleet of various size vehicles ready to roll. The following enclosures gives our wharf and main shop services and capabilities and a listing of personnel to contact 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
