Derecktor, Inc., Mamaroneck, NY, was established in 1947 for the construction and repair of custom yachts. As the yard's reputation grew, business expanded to include the construction and maintenance of all types of pleasure, military and commercial craft, as well as state-of-the-art racing yachts including 12 meter boats for the America's Cup Derecktor Florida was opened in South Florida in 1968. Covering more than 17 acres on the Dania Cutoff Canal, Derecktor Florida substantially increased the area serviced by Derecktor Shipyards. Since its founding, the yard has grown to employ approximately 120 people, and provides Southern Florida with its only full-service yachtyard.
