About Us Cosmos Shipping AD is specialized in ship management and ship operation, ship agency and trade, ship bunkering and manning activities - all related to the shipping industry. Cosmos Shipping EAD is a Member of BIMCO since June 1997 and in March 2000 it became a Member of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA). BUREAU VERITAS UK, certified our quality management system and services and the company was awarded a Certificate of compliance with the provisions of the Quality Standard ISO 9002. Our Quality Management System is being revised in order to comply with the requirements of the new Quality Standard ISO 9001:2000 by the end of 2002 year. Cosmos Shipping AD incorporates professionals in the shipping business, keen to prove their abilities and professional skills. During the past years of existence, the company has proved as a loyal and reliable partner for many Traders, Ship owners, Agents, Suppliers, etc. A team of highly qualified specialists guarantees our Company success with extended experience in marine business, modern communications, professional management and market knowledge. History Cosmos Shipping AD was established in Varna, Bulgaria in 1993 as private Sole Proprietorship and in 1994 was transformed into a limited company, governed by Bulgarian Law. The main activities of the company in the early years were in the sphere of ship brokerage and agency services. Later on it successfully developed chartering and management of vessels with DWCC from 1000 up to 15000 mts in Black, Azov, Mediterranean seas, Europe, West and South Africa and Far East. And for the last two years Cosmos Shipping EAD is a Shipowner Company. From November 2000 our company became Shipowner enjoying full rights on two vessels: m/v Denitza - singledecker, timber carrier and m/v Victor - multipurpose tweendecker, container fitted Both vessels are with unlimited region of sailing, for carrying out dry cargoes, such as: wood, metals, chemical and hazardous products, containers etc., fully P&I covered and, after reconstruction repairs, have been provided with a new technology equipment. Quality Assurance Shipping is, undoubtedly, among the most dynamic industries, which requires that those who work in shipping be flexible enough to move with the constantly occurring changes. The nature of our activities requires a lot of experience, intelligence, knowledge, abilities, reliability and quality. Due to strong international competition we are to observe and satisfy the demands and expectations of our clients. We do our best to assure the quality of our services and we believe that we can achieve our objectives by using modern technologies. The policy of our company is to offer services to our clients in conformity with our contracts, applicable legal requirements, strictly complying with the contract terms and at a competitive price. In order to achieve the above mentioned objectives Cosmos Shipping AD has created and maintains an effective system for constant improvement and quality assurance of all activities in which all the staff of the company is involved. Quality assurance system of the company is developed in order to define all legal and quality requirements and to maintain the necessary unified level of performance control. Cosmos Shipping AD is certified by BUREAU VERITAS UK, to be in compliance with ISO Standards The Manning department of Cosmos Shipping AD comprises of highly qualified team, particularly skilled and experienced in human resources management. Our manning service comes in a complete package, consisting of selection, recruiting, medical attendance, sign on and off formalities, obtaining visas, flying the crew and post services. We are one of the few shipping companies in Bulgaria, which has obtained governmental approval for recruitment services we provide. The Manning department faces no hindrances in issuing American, UK, and other visas in 24 hours notice. Since 10 April 2001 no Shengen visas are needed for Bulgarian seafarers to embark vessels at European ports. Cosmos Shipping AD is regularly recruiting by rotation experienced and well-trained crew in accordance with STCW 95 and ISM requirements to man the various fleet vessels of our principals. We are always in close touch with Bulgarian Ministry of Transport, Headquarters of maritime administration and Bulgarian Maritime Training Center. Furthermore, Cosmos Shipping AD manning services are certified in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9002 standard and company is a member of Bulgarian Maritime Chamber. At the beginning of 2002 year our Quality Management System has been revised and the Company services proved to comply with the requirements of the new Quality Standard ISO 9001 - 2000. We are proud to state, that presently we are manning 69 vessels accommodating about 750 (seven hundred and fifty) officers and ratings on board of container vessels, tankers, bulk carriers and ro-ro vessels trading worldwide, operated by ZIM ISRAEL NAVIGATION Co., OFER (SHIPS) HOLDING LTD, SEABOARD SHIP MANAGEMENT INC. and others. At the time of recruiting, all officers and rating are carefully interviewed, screened to ensure that their qualifications match the position requirements, and provided with adequate training as applicable. We truly believe in selecting the right people for the right ship. Cosmos Shipping AD offers professional and reliable 24-hours agency service at all Bulgarian Black Sea and Danube River ports. At present we are General Agent of Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company (UDASCO), Izmail, Ukraine at all Bulgarian ports on the Black sea and the Danube River. Since 1 November 1999 we act as General Agent of the biggest Romanian Shipowner Messrs. NAVROM Galatz at all Bulgarian Danube River ports.
