The Anthony Veder Group was founded in 1937 as shipowner and port agent. After the famous passenger line service the "Oranje Lijn" the company started in 1969 with its first gastanker and has been involved in gas shipping ever since. As an integrated shipping company our aim is to develop long term relationships with our customers by offering a reliable and flexible service with a wide range of high quality, modern gas carriers. The Anthony Veder fleet consists of 19 modern gas carriers. Most of them, 7, are semi pressurised/ fully refrigerated (SP/FR) gas tankers. Five ethylene (ETH) carriers, five fully pressurised (FP) tanker and a dedicated CO2 carrier (fully pressurised/ fully refrigerated, FP/FR) form the remaining part of the fleet. If you have an interest in the history of the company, please sent an email to: info@anthonyveder.nl and we will send you more info. Important dates in the history of Anthony Veder were: Founded in 1937 and started as a freight and passenger line from Rotterdam to the Great Lakes in Canada and the US, called the "Oranje Lijn". All vessels were named after the Royal family and names started with "Prins". See: http://go.to/OranjeLijn. During 1940-1945 most vessels were lost during the war, but after the war the company quickly built up the fleet again. Many Dutch emigrants used the line to move to Canada. The "Oranje Lijn" was sold in the late 50's due to competition of the airlines. The company diversified in reefers and other activities and ordered their first gas tanker in 1968. The Netherlands Antillian subsidiary owned these vessels and therefore the first Coral names were introduced because of the corals in the Caribbean Sea. Expansion of the gastanker fleet during the 70's and 80's including the company's first ethylene carrier in 1989. Further investments in reefers and container ships. Sold in 1991 by the Veder family to shipping related investors with HAL Investments as largest shareholder. 1994: back to the core business and full focus on gas shipping. Fleet expansion by five newbuilding gas tankers in China and second hand purchases. 1996: opening office in Singapore. 1999: delivery of the world first purpose-built CO2 tanker. We are a dynamic company attractive for young people. Short communication lines, quick decision making and own responsibilities make it an entrepreneurial environment to work in. The company is growing fast in tonnage and accordingly in quality of people. That is why there are always possibilities for young people - seafaring and shore based - to join the company. What we need on our ships are young well-educated seafarers (MBO - HBO) - nautical and technical - who will join our ships for a career in higher ranks and if possible in shore-based jobs. Interested? Please see our vacancies at our fleet. For both at sea as on shore we put emphasis on training on the job and through special courses. For a career at sea, please see our vacancies at our fleet. For shore-based vacancies, view this page. To optimize the fleet the company has chartered out their smallest 1600 cbm vessels on a long-term bare boat basis. During September/October 2001 the Prins Alexander", "Prins Philips Willem" and "Prins Willem II" were delivered to the charterer. The segment in the gas carrier market we serve is now above 3000 cbm and below 10,000 cbm.
