SBF Shipbuilders, established since 1977 and Western Australia's longest established high speed ferry builders, are pleased to announce new building orders for 2002/2003. Following a several months of negotiations, custom design work and a tremendous effort from SBF's representative in Piraeus, Mr Stavros Kaloskamis, SBF signed contracts in Greece in December for two 40m high speed monohull passenger ferries (with options for two more) and four 45m high speed monohull pax/ro-ro ferries from two Greek ferry operators in total worth up to AU$54,000,000. Importantly, these vessels will comply to the new International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Code of Safety for High-Speed Craft (2000 HSC Code).
