Ltd. was setup in November 1990. On 1st January 1999, the firm was transformed in limited liability company and the only shareholder become the State Treasury. The company is the only firm in Poland performing exploration and extraction of crude oil on the Baltic Sea. The company has its head office in Gdansk at 9, Stary Dwor St. The company has its own continental base. It has been situated on Polish Hook along left bank of Dead Vistula and has direct access to the Baltic Sea. Exploration and exploitation of oil and gas deposits are performed with three drilling platforms: "Petrobaltic", " Baltic Beta" and "Jacket". Further, "Petrobaltic" Co., Ltd has sufficient equipment and technical subsidiaries in order to achieve its strategic targets. For more see: "Technical equipment" The B-3 oilfield is the "Petrobaltic's" crude oil production centre on the Baltic Sea. The crude oil is found on depth amounting to 1450 m under the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The crude oil is extracted with 12 wells equipped with superficial casing - well heads and under-water heads of firm Cooper-Cameron. The separation of gas from oil process is carried out in separators of firm" Geoservices", installed on platform" Baltic Beta". Further, the crude oil is transferred with sub-sea pipelines via mooring-washing buoy of "CALM" type to the tanker "Icarus II" ,which stores the oil. After loading process, the tanker carries her cargo to port. In order to increase the deposit pressure, the water in injection work pressure system has been installed on the platform "Baltic Beta" At present the water is delivered under pressure to the B3 deposit with five directional wells. The Z-7N well, with horizontal deviation amounting to 2850 M is the longest directional well in Poland. Ltd. produced in total 1.390.000 tons of oil, in years 1992-first half of 2001: "Petrobaltic" Co. Ltd. production against the total crude oil production in Poland (in thous. tons). The geology plays, as in every other firm that performs developing of natural raw materials, the key role in current and planned undertakings. The key role of modern, interdisciplinary geologist has to be emphasised when taking into account the dynamics of changes in exploration and development of hydrocarbons. Understanding the need of times and wishing to preserve the competitiveness of our firm, some investments were made which targeted the creation of modern and professional workplace for oil - geologist. At present, the "Petrobaltic's" Geology Division has at own disposal an integrated software set of firm Schlumberger. The software is designated for making archives and geological data processing. From the very beginning of its existence, the "Petrobaltic's" basic investment aim was the project under the name "Sea Oilfield on The B-3 Deposit". The last stage of this investment is going to be the installation of unmanned extraction platform of "JACKET" type. The company is executing the works related to this project, now. The company's closest investment plans cover: Construction of unmanned exploration platforms of JACKET type Exploration of B-8 deposit, with the use of technical solutions that have been successfully exercised on B-3 deposit Recognition of gas deposits through drilling of investigative wells on 4 discovered deposits. Gas- deposits development Bringing the deposit B-3 to full productive efficiency Development of discovered deposits situated within the licensed area Preparation of documentation for gas deposits Development of gas deposits Expansion of the firm beyond the Polish sea territory (exploration and extraction). In order to enter the international market the "Petrobaltic" Co., Ltd established co-operation with geologic institutions in Lithuania, Latvia and Russia (Kaliningrad) in the filed of exploration of hydrocarbons within territories of these countries. Furthermore, the close relations have been built up with countries of Southeast Asia and Western Africa.
