The Yardimci Group is an established ship owning and shipbuilding group which was founded in 1976 by Sevket Yardimci. Today the group has a number of business interests altough shipping remains firmly our core activity. The Group manages a fleet of Container Vessels and now owns a modern shipyard constructing vessels on account of an international cleintele. YARDIMCI is perhaps one the most forward thinking Shipping and shipbuilding company in Turkey. The shipmanagement division is ISO 9002 certified and employs professionals of the highest calibre. The shipyard maintain a highly skilled workforce and prides itself upon delivery vessels of the highest quality and within agreed delivery schedules. The YARDIMCI Group The YARDIMCI Group of Companies is presently owned and operated by four YARDIMCI brothers: Kemal, Saban, Servet and Huseyin. The YARDIMCI has been connected with shipping since the turn of the century and is committed to the continuation of this tradition. A colorful history and a deep attachment to the land and the people have created a link that involves the Group intensively in society and charitable works. Their entrepreneurial spirit has continued to thrive today. The YARDIMCI Group currently manages 9 container vessels. The trading and shipping history of the Group goes back to the early 1900's in the Black Sea region of Turkey. This entrepreneurial spirit was initialed when Huseyin YARDIMCI (The Grandfather of the present directors of the Group) started trading on a 150 ton vessel between Russia and the Black Sea coast. This trade lasted until the Russian revolution. Huseyin YARDIMCI was able to capitalize through what today would be known as a ship chandling shop. Years later , Huseyin s son Sevket YARDIMCI realized that the opportunities to expand in the Black Sea region were limited. He decided to move to Istanbul where he was able to re-establish himself in shipping. Instead of buying ships from the second-hand market, he decided to build them. Between 1974 -1985, utilizing local bank financing, Sevket built eight single-decker 7,000 dwt vessels, with cargo capability. In 1985, the sons of Sevket became involved in the international expansion and development of the Group. As a result, the Group purchased its first Handy-Size bulker from the second-hand market and for the first time, obtained financing from international banks. This expansion continued until 1993 when the Group decided to focus on ship construction and purchased their first container ship design from Germany. In 1994, the Group purchased an existing ship building facility that would become the YARDIMCI Shipyard in Tuzla / Istanbul. From 1994 until 2001, the YARDIMCI Yard has built one Chemical tanker and ten container ships of which six were built for the YARDIMCI account and four vessels ( 'Myconos' class ) were built as joint venture projects. The decision to establish YARDIMCI Shipping Headquarters in Tuzla was a conscious decision rather than pure chance. YARDIMCI purchased the shipyard at Tuzla and assembled a dedicated and competent naval architects and support staff to look after its shipbuilding and repair activities. Initially, the technical staff dealing with commissioned vessels was located in Kabatas on the European side of Istanbul. It was therefore logical to merge the Kabatas staff with the Tuzla staff and work under one roof. Within the Shipyard, an modern office block of approximately 3,000 m2 was built to house both operations. The organization includes not only technical staff to look after operational ships but is backed by all the technical staff of the shipyard. This provides for the highest level of comprehensive services that are distinctly unique to the YARDIMCI Shipyard. The group is fully accredited by the ABS for ISM and has obtained the ISO 9002 Quality Certificate. The implementation and compliance of ISM entails very strict manpower distribution along with the initiation of many other procedures. The group strictly adheres to these globally accepted rules and regulations. The dry-docking schedules are made in precise compliance with class requirements, unless the necessity arises to dry-dock as a result of an unforeseen event, such as an accident. The vessels under consideration are container ships which are either on a line service or under time charter and, occasionally, on a voyage basis. The 'Myconos' fleet of four vessels has been built at YARDIMCI Shipyard and ages vary between three and six years. It is significant to note the advantages the group has in the technical management of the ships that have been built at YARDIMCI. The technical managers are totally familiar with the vessels and as a result, The group can tend them in a manner that other technical managers cannot. The maintenance and other programs that had been in operation for many years required few changes when the process was undertaken for the ISM and ISO 9002 Certificates. The shipyard maintain a highly skilled workforce and prides itself upon delivery vessels of the highest quality and within agreed delivery schedules. Yardimci Shipyard AS
