The Green Tankers AS The Green Tankers is a company in the Bergesen Group. The branch office is located just outside Paris, France. It has ten French employees ashore and around 70 onboard. In addition, there are around 70 employees onboard from India and the Phillippines. The Green tankers operates several vessels under the French secondary register ATF (TAAF) inlcuding V/VLCC and LPG carriers. See fleet list. Operations in France include the following management activities: -Employment and manning of vessels -Technical support and purchasing -Day-to-day operation, port calls monitoring and associated vessel and office administration The Green Tankers History Employees Employment information and application Contacts History Bergesen established The Green Tankers AS in France in 1997 to enter the French market of crude oil transportation, which is partly reserved to ships registered under the French flag (TAAF). The same year two VLCCs (renamed Berge Charlotte and Berge Helene) were purchased from Esso France, and in 1998 another VLCC (Berge Ingerid) was transferred from NIS to TAAF. In 1999, The Green Tankers decided to expand into gas transportation. The VLGC Berge Denise, delivered from Gdynia shipyard early in 2001, was thus registered in TAAF. The Green Tankers History Employees Employment information and application Contacts Employees On TAAF-registered ships at least 35 percent of the crew, including the master and substitute, must be French. The other crew members may be from IMO STCW "white list" countries. The Green Tankers' vessels have : French officers and ratings, selected and managed by The Green Tankers. Filipino officers and ratings, selected and managed through Bergesen Philippines. Indian officers and ratings, selected and managed through Bergesen India. More than 70 French seafarers (30 senior officers, 20 junior officers, and 20 petty-officers) are working onboard The Green Tankers' vessels. In addition, some 12 cadets enroll each year to acquire sea experience. The company is recruiting French senior officers with gas and crude oil experience. The EEC seafarers are allowed to embark on the TAAF vessels, but they must sign a French contract of employment, with French taxes, contributions and deductions.
