Bunkering - Bulk furnance oil and high speed diesel oil usually available but 48 hours notice of requirement must be given. Fresh Water is available and supplied by the public works department from hydrant at the New Liberty Wharf. Water barge is also available for ships at anchorage with ample time but costly. Labuan SBM (Single Buoy Mooring) For more information on Labuan SBM, pls click here. The berthing master, mooring assistant and surveyors board the vessel approximately 2 nautical miles WSMW of the SBM. Master are requested to provide a good lee for the pilot boat to facilitate the boarding by persons and lifting of two radio sets and other equipments. Sea anchorage for tanker is 2 nautical miles in diameter and is located appoximately 2 nautical miles from the SBM in the following position: Latitude 5 15.0' N and Longitude 115 4.0' E Ref to BA Chart No 1844, 2109 & 2111. There is no restricted hours for berthing and unberthing. Generally, loading operation is not affected by weather condition unless stop by loading master due to dangerous heavy swells/strong wind. New Liberty Wharf: A government commerical wharf with permanent concrete wharf, measuring 244 m with dolphins 30 m off each end least depth of water is 8.70 m. This wharf caters for general cargo. There are two godowns of 3,716 m2 in area and an open storage of 10,000 m2. Cargo operation from 0800 2200 hrs with overtime involved. Shell Installation Wharf: Concrete jetty 52 m long with 2 dolphins at each end with least depth of water 9.50m. The jetty is managed by Shell Timur. Amsteel Mills Jetty: This private owned jetty is 220m long and can handle cape-size vessels carrying iron-ore upto 150,000 dwt with least depth of 17.5 m water. The jetty is equipped with a unit of loader/unloader mounted on the jetty. The ore is fed to stockpile on shore by converyor belt. The jetty also ship out Hot Briqueted Iron (HBI). Average discharging rate for ore is 18,000 mt/wwd & for loading HBI is 6,000 mt/wwd. Methanol Jetty: This private jetty is owned by Petronas Malaysia. It is located 650 m southwest of the Amsteel Mills jetty and can handle vessel upto 180 m in length with least depth of 13.0 m water. This berth is cater for loading/unloading of Methanol product with 2 loading arms. Asian Supply Base Jetty: This private owned jetty is a L-shaped jetty 120 m in length with one dolphin 30 m at one end and is cater for offshore activities. It has a vessel's draft restriction of 7.50 m. Occassionally, accept vessels calling to load round logs and other cargo. Operation is round the clock 7 days a week Sabah Flour & Feed Mills Jetty: This private owned L-shaped jetty is 90 m in length with two mooring dolphins 45 m away at each end and is cater for bulk carrier discharging wheat, maize and soya bean meal. Maximum vessel arrival draft at this berth is 9.30m with maximum LOA of 175m. Operations at this berth is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Discharging rate for maize and wheat average at 2,400 mt/wwd while for soya bean meal average at 1,500 mt/wwd by mean of 2 units of pneumatic pumps and grabs. Labuan Single Buoy Mooring (SBM): This SBM is located at position Lat 5 15'59" N, Long 115 07'08" E and is designed for tankers with max s.d.w.t 350,000 but currently fitted with hose strings to suit a max BCM of 165 m. Max vessel permissible draft is 18.9m. Berthing and unberthing is carried out day and night if weather permits. Other facilities / Services Pilotage: Not compulsory for vessels entering and using New Liberty Wharf. However, it is compulsory for vessels entering ASB/Amsteel Mills/ Methanol/Sabah Flour Mills & SBM Laid up Anchorage: Brunei Bay provides reasonably sheltered anchorage for larger vessels especially VLCC. Port charges are among the lowest in this region for laidup ships. This anchorage is operated by Sabah Marine Head Quarters. Ship Repair: The Sabah Ship Yard repair and engineering is located in Labuan providing full repair services for ocean going vessels. The company also undertakes ship building.
