The aviation division operates the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The Seaport Division operates the marine terminals and related maintenance. The Seaport encompasses six different lines of business: Container Terminals, Central Waterfront Piers and Properties, Cargo Piers and Industrial Properties, Shilshole Bay Marina, Fisherman s Terminal and Warehouse and Distribution. The advantage of the port include more than 233 acres of space, more than 8,000 feet of moorage, storage for up to 213,000 barrels of petroleum or other liquid cargoes and rail routes to inland markets. The port has facilities for every category of general and project cargo. Such cargoes as molasses, petroleum, fruit, steel, heavy equipment, cement, autos, corn and soybeans and shipped through the Port of Seattle. Terminals / Berths Terminal 91 This is a 152-acre multi-use facility that serves as a major discharge site for auto, farm equipment and other types of RO/RO cargo. This terminal also offers direct rail access. Terminal 91 has a 137,573 sq. ft. chill facility that can accommodate three vessels at a time, and provides a Foreign Trade Zone and cold treatment capabilities. The 43-acre grain facility has a capacity of 106,680 MT and offers silo space for grain products such as corn, soybean and wheat. Chill Facility This facility is the only USDA approved storage site on the West Coast. The efficient facilities are designed with the latest technology in advanced refrigeration and monitoring systems. Temperature controlled storage is just 50 feet from vessel berthing. Sixteen waterside doors and 20 truck-loading doors allow for the handling of 50 to 100 trucks per day. This assures the efficient movement of grain from trucks and rail cars to the silos and then to ship s hold. The current 4.2 million bushel capacity is expandable to meet future requirements. The warehouse facilities are just minutes away from the container terminals, intermodal facilities and the airport. The port provides a variety of custom services, such as labeling, packaging, inspection, minor assembly and modification. A diverse range of products move through the warehouses each year, which includes goods, apparel, toys, electronics and high valve goods. Terminal 5 APL s container terminal in Seattle, Global Gateway North, features advanced on-dock intermodal rail facilities and the latest generation terminal operations system.
