In the north of The Netherlands, in an open connection with the North Sea, lies the port of Delfzijl. Royal Niestern Sander is a member of Royal Niestern Sander is a household word in the field of shipbuilding for large and small merchant shipping and inland shipping. The order book contains building orders for bitumen tankers, ferries, offshore vessels and a variety of types of ships for transporting dry cargoes. In more than a century the company has earned itself a reputation as a trendsetter of innovations in shipbuilding and as a designer and builder of advanced ships for various and sometimes very specific purposes. We stick closely to changing market demands. The building facilities of Royal Niestern Sander comprise a building yard inside the dike, including a production hall for building ships up to 140m long and up to 16m wide; a building location outside the dike, suitable for building and assembling ships up to 160m long and up to 23m wide. The company has its own Engineering Office for designing, adapting and supervising orders. Besides it is a member of Conoship International B.V. a cooperative calculation, design and advice centre of eight Dutch shipyards. Royal Niestern Sander has a wide, multi-specialized experience in ship repairs. The company has specialists in all common subdisciplines. Thus it can adequately respond to demands for surveys, appraisals and their resulting requests for maintenance and repair activities. Among its national and international customers are small and large merchant fleet owners, ferry services, the national lifeboat institute, the offshore industry, coast and sea fishing and the government. The repair facilities of Royal Niestern Sander comprise a 147m long slip which can handle ships up to 1650 tons. There are also various quays for repair activities, both inside and outside the dikes. The repair location outside the dikes has two floating docks. One can handle ships up to 125m long and 18.5m wide and about 10.000 tons dwt.The other can deal with ships up to 185m wide and 25m wide and approx. 20.000 tons dwt The company guarantees speed, accuracy and quality. These are standard components for periodical maintenance, calamity repairs such as damages to skins, bottoms or rudders, but also for repairing or replacing equipment.
