Iolcos Hellenic Maritime Enterprises is an operator of large and medium-sized oceangoing vessels, based in Athens, Greece, with a subsidiary in Manila. Today, Iolcos operates a fleet of 7 bulk carrier vessels and employs more than 40 people in the corporate headquarters in Athens (Iolcos House) and over 250 on board the ships and in the offices abroad. The Iolcos Team Our corporate head office is organized in 7 Departments, all of which are headed by a Dept. Manager. The department heads report directly to the General Manager. Hamodrakas Mr. Hamodrakas has recently assumed the position of General Manager. However,he has been with Iolcos Hellenic since 1991 as Insurance & Claims Manager. Besides his quite extensive experience in various fields of the shipping industry. Mr. Hamodrakas also possesses a wide educational background with studies at the Universities of Lausanne (Haute Etudes Commerciales) and Capetown (Economics). Even though Mr. Hamodrakas is the General Manager, the Insurance & Claims Dept.is still under his direct responsibility. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marketing/Sales Director Mr. Nikiforos Passoulas Mr. Passoulas, our in-house broker, joined Iolcos Hellenic in 1993, but his experience in shipbroking goes back 26 years, having worked in the past for various Greek and foreign chartering houses and shipping companies. His academic qualifications include a degree from the College for Maritime Executives in Piraeus and diplomas both from the City of London Polytechnic and the London School of Foreign Trade. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Operations Director Cpt. Antony Pantelous Captain Antonis Pantelous has been with Iolcos since 1987 when he first came aboard as a Port Captain. He has a wide and diverse range of experience, having been for many years in sea-going and shore-working assignments. Having graduated in 1967 from the Merchant Marine Academy of Andros as a 2nd Officer, he sailed with N.J. Goulandris' vessels until 1977 when, as a Master, joined Skyros Shipping Enterprises as Port Captain. Until 1987 he worked for two other Greek shipping companies before settling at Iolcos Hellenic. After a successful career with the company, Capt. Pantelous took charge of the department and was promoted to Operations Manager in 1996. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technical Director Mr. Stelios Geranios Stelios Geranios is an ex-Hellenic Navy Officer, with years of experience in the naval technical field. A graduate of both the Hellenic Naval Academy and the Athens National Technical University, Mr. Geranios has served in various ship units within the Hellenic Navy, both in Greece and abroad, before he joined the merchant marine industry. His wide working background includes newbuildings' supervision in Japan (1976-9), a position as Technical Manager at Andreadis UK for ten years (1979-89), and then as an independent Marine Consultant-Surveyor until 1995, when he joined Iolcos Hellenic Maritime Enterprises as Technical Director. Today, as head of the Technical Department reporting to the General Manager, is responsible for the implementation of the company's maintenance and repair policies for the company's vessels. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Insurance / Claims Department Manager Mr. Stavros Hamodrakas Stavros Hamodrakas has been with the company for 11 years, after being employed with various shipping corporations in Greece and in South Africa, in managerial positions -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Supply Director Mr. Antony Kourkor Tony Kourkor has been with the company since 1988, when he joined the Accounts Deparment as an Assistant and office clerk. Concurrently with his work, he completed his studies at the University of LaVerne in Athens, where he earned in 1991 his Bachelor'sDegree in Management and his MSc Degree in Business Administration in 1993. After completion of his military obligations, he returned to the company where he established the supply department in 1995, combining under one roof all purchasing functions. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Accounts Director Ms. Theano Paraskeva Ms. Paraskeva has been with the company for 16 years. She is a graduate of the St. George Commercial College and was employed by two well-known commercial firms for 13 years prior joining Iolcos in 1983. An experienced accountant herself, she headed the department shortly after its establishment and remains it's manager ever since. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Designated Person Ashore (D.P.A.) Cpt. Markos Kolios Captain Markos Kolios has been with Iolcos since 1995. Prior to that he was employed as Port Captain in the Operations Department of a large shipping company, responsible for operations, marine and safety matters. His sea-going experience includes employment as Master for eight years on board panamax and capesize dry-cargo vessels, while his educational background is also extensive: he has completed the Naval Architecture course at Sunderland Technical College in England and has also attended ISM seminars by the International Maritime Organization and the American Bureau of Shipping. Captain Kolios joined our company as a Port Captain and became our Designated Person Ashore in April 2001. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I.T. Director Mr. Nick Marinopoulos Nick Marinopoulos joined Iolcos in 1995 as an Applications Programmer, having a wide theoretical and working background. After graduating from a private school with a degree in computer programming, he worked in various companies as an applications programmer and systems administrator. He has also collaborated with other professional programmers for the development of various computer applications. He has also attended seminars in Novell administration and installation/configuration. A major part of our company's strategy is the continuous renewal of the older units with modern ones, together with the proper and systematic maintenance of the existing fleet. A year later -in 1983- Iolcos acquired its first vessel, the 14,118 dwt Cypriot-flag MV Brave Themis. From the very beginning of its establishment, Iolcos managed to achieve high growth rates, which quickly positioned the company amongst the industry's most robust. Over the years, the number of ships managed by the Company grew rapidly and, during its 18 years participation in the industry, Iolcos Hellenic has managed a total of 33 seagoing bulk carrier vessels. This ongoing development lead the company's expansion abroad through the founding of Iolcos (Overseas) Maritime Limited, incorporated in the U.K. and, more important, to the creation of Iolcos (Far East) Maritime Enterprises, based in Manilla, Philippines, a company set and established to handle Iolcos' crewing requirements, by recruiting and training and experienced and reliable crew for our vessels. In 1997 the Iolcos Hellenic Center of Maritime Studies was founded, a non-profit organization aiming to contribute to the field of nautical training and research. Today, Iolcos Hellenic Maritime Enterprises Co. Ltd., is the core unit of the Iolcos Group of Companies, managing 10 medium and large-sized bulk carrier vessels, of a total tonnage approaching seven hundred thousand deadweight tonnes.
