About Us Started in 1948 by J. Parker Conrad, Conrad Industries Inc specializes in the construction, conversion and repair of a wide variety of marine vessels for commercial and governmental customers and the fabrication of modular components of offshore drilling rigs and floating, production, storage and offloading vessels. The company currently operates three shipyards in South Louisiana and Texas with direct access to the Gulf of Mexico and will be adding a fourth facility in the fourth quarter of 2002. With over 12 Construction and Repair buildings totaling over 230,000 sq./ft. and 6 ABS classed dry-docks, Conrad is able to provide 24/7 service to its shallow and deepwater customers. History The Company was founded in 1948 by J. Parker Conrad, the Company s Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors, and began operations at its shipyard in Morgan City, Louisiana. In 1952, the company expanded its operations into the repair business through the acquisition of one of the first dry-docks in the Gulf Coast. In 1962, the company began building steel barges and other vessels for the offshore oil and gas industry. In 1984 the Company expanded its operations to include the construction and repair of vessels for other commercial and foreign markets. During 1996, the Company acquired its conversion and repair facility in Amelia, Louisiana, which commenced operations in the first quarter of 1998. In December 1997, Conrad purchased Orange Shipbuilding to expand its construction capacity and to expand its production capabilities into additional types of marine vessels, including vessels for the U.S. government and the fabrication of modular components for offshore drilling rigs and FPSO s. Orange Shipbuilding has been engaged in shipbuilding since 1974. Prior to its current focus on small to medium-sized vessels for the U.S. government, Orange shipyard designed and built a variety of vessels for use in offshore Gulf of Mexico oil and gas exploration and production activities During 1996 and 1997, in connection with the upturn in offshore oil and gas exploration and production in the Gulf of Mexico, Orange Shipbuilding capitalized on the demand for subcontractors that could fabricate modular components for offshore drilling rigs and FPSO s on a timely cost effective basis. In the Fourth Quarter of 2002, Conrad will be adding another conversion and repair facility on 16 acres of land strategically located on the Intracoastal Waterway in Amelia approximately 1 mile from our current Amelia facility.
