Eletson owns and operates one of the world's largest fleets of medium and long range product tankers. The fleet presently consists of 24 double hull tankers, all of which were delivered after 1989, with a combined capacity of approximately 1,486,185 dwt. The Company has on order two newbuildings with Hyundai Heavy Industries at its Ulsan Shipyard in Korea. These are two 106,149 dwt vessels, scheduled to be delivered in the first half of 2004. All vessels sail under the Greek flag. Eletson founded by Vassilis G. Hadjieleftheriadis together with his two sons and two sons in-law. First vessel purchased; the m/v Maria T, a 30 year old combination carrier of 2,500 dwt. Eletson purchases its first tanker. The m/t EVI T of 15,900 dwt. Eletson purchases seven product tankers of 29,900 dwt, establishing its presence in the dirty product trades. Eletson orders five product tankers of 29,900 dwt at Kanda Shipyard in Japan. Eletson Maritime Ltd., established in London. Eletson Holdings Inc., established. Eletson orders first series of 46,000 dwt double hull product tankers at Korea based Korea Shipbuilding and Engineering Corporation - KSEC (currently Hanjin Shipyard). Eletson Maritime Inc., established in New York. Between 1989 and 1996 Eletson ordered fifteen (15) handymax and nine (9) panamax product tankers. Delivery of M/T Alkyonis, the first panamax product tanker in the Eletson fleet. Eletson places first European Shipping Yankee Bond issue in the US public debt market for $ 140 million maturing in 2003. Eletson sells last of single hull vessels to become one of the first companies world-wide to own and operate only double hull tankers. Eletson selects Lloyd's Register of Shipping for the classification of all its vessels. Purchase of two resale post-panamax product tankers of 76,000 dwt from Halla Shipyard in S. Korea. Eletson invests in Oceanconnect.com Eletson orders its first Aframax product tankers of 105,500 dwt with Hyundai Heavy Industries of S. Korea. Eletson revenues surpass the $ 200 million mark for the first time with the closing of FY 2000. On the 9th of March, Eletson Holdings Inc. co-founder, Chairman and President, Apostolos B. Hadjieleftheriadis passes away. Eletson orders two additional Aframax product tankers of 105,500 dwt at Hyundai Heavy industries. On the 6th of February, Eletson Holdings Inc. co-founder and Director, Erric B. Kertsikoff passes away. On November 28, 2003 the Company finalized the sale of the m/ts Samothraki, Psara, Halki, Shinoussa to four shipowning companies represented by Prime Marine Management of Athens, Greece. Simultaneously with the sale, the vessels entered into a leaseback transaction with Eletson Chartering Inc. for a period of approximately 5 years.
