A specialist yard in maintenance, repair and conversion work on short-sea vessels, offshore work ships, dredgers, tugs and all kinds of inland transportation craft, including river cruise ships. The Merwede repair yard is dedicated to maintenance, repair and refurbishment work on dredgers and associated equipment, self-propelled cargo barges, push/pull tugs, stone dumping barges, river cruise ships, short-sea cargo vessels, and any other kind of craft which can be accommodated by our facilities. The docking facility consists of a 40 m wide side slipway, which accommodates ships of up to 130 m in length in a horizontal and elevated position to facilitate working underneath. The total ship's weight allowed on the slip is 5,000 tons. Lifting capacity isprovided by two travelling cranes, which are capable of handling loads up to 10 tons at a radius of 20 m. The quay-wall of the repair yard is 270 m in length and provides ample mooring space even for the largest vessel. The travelling crane capacity here is a maximum of 12.5 tons at 30 m outreach. Located at the river Merwede, which, as a part of the main waterway into the heartland of Europe, is very busy indeed, the Merwede repair yard provides round the clock services. When it undertakes larger contracts, the repair division can count on the resources at the new building yard, in this respect both design facilities and assistance with project management. Merwede Repair can take on any type of job, but its greatest strength lies in its ability to handle all aspects of major conversions and refurbishment projects.
