PORT OF SETUBAL THIS PORT WORKS 24 HOURS A DAY, 365 DAYS A YEAR. FROM THE STAY-BAR TO THE GENERAL CARGO, ROLL-OF AND ROLL-ON AND CONTAINER TERMINALS THE SAILING TIME FOR THE SHIPS IS OF ABOUT 30 MINUTES. THE MAXIMUM LOAD DISPLACEMENT IS OF 10.5 METRES (ZH) AND OF 8.5 METRES (ZH) UNDER ANY TIDE. DUE THE NATURAL ACCESS, SHELTER AND MOORING CONDITIONS, THE PORT OF SETUBAL HAS DEVELOPED AND STRENGTHENED ITS IMPORTANCE WITHIN THE SPECTRUM OF THE LARGER PORTUGUESE PORTS. THE ACCESS TO THE PORT IS MADE VIA A STAY-BAR CANAL 5 KM LONG AND 200 METRES WIDE. UPSTREAM THE CAMPANARIO, CABRA, CABECINHA, CABECA AND ESCAMA DE FERRO MOORING DOLPHINS SEPARATE THE RIVER INTO TWO CANALS: THE NORTH CANAL AND THE SOUTH CANAL. THE DEPTH OF THE CANALS VARIES, WITH THE SOUTH CANAL HAVING GREATER DEPTHS AND BETTER OPERATIONAL CONDITIONS. THE STAY-BAR AND THE NORTH CANALS HAVE DEPTHS OF, RESPECTIVELY, -12 METRES (ZH) AND 11 METRES (ZH). THE DEPTHS ARE STABLE, BEING MADE OF EASY-TO-DRAIN SANDS AND SILT. THE STAY-BAR NEEDS TO BE PILOTED THROUGH. THE GEOGRAPHICAL POSITION OF THE PORT OF SETUBAL AND ITS ROAD-RAILWAY ACCESSES (PRESENT AND PLANNED) GUARANTEE PREFERENTIAL CONNECTION CONDITIONS FOR BOTH THE NORTH-SOUTH TRAFFIC AND THAT GOING TOWARDS THE SPANISH PORTS. LOCATION LATITUDE: 38? 31 N LONGITUDE: 8? 54?W RAILWAY ACCESSES LICENSED TERMINALS CONCESSION TERMINALS OTHER INSTALLATIONS RAILWAY ACCESSES THERE IS A DIRECT LINE WITHIN THE GENERAL CARGO, ROLL-ON/ROLL-OFF AND CONTAINER TERMINALS. IT HAS 10 RAIL CRANES (TWO 25 TON ONES; FIVE 6 TON ONES; A 3 TON ONE AND TWO 1.5 TON ONES). ROLL-ON/ROLL-OFF THIS HAS TWO MOORING POINTS (ONE WITH A RAMP) AND IS 380 METRES LONG, WITH A DEPTH OF 10.5 METRES (ZH) AND AN OPEN-AIR STORING AREA OF 39,000 M2. CONTAINER TERMINAL THIS HAS A MOORING POST 165 METRES LONG AND 10.5 METRES DEEP (ZH). THE OPEN-AIR STORING AREA IS OF 82,280 M2, WHICH ALLOWS A YEARLY MOVEMENT OF 50,000 TEUS. IT IS ABOUT TO UNDERGO ENLARGEMENT WORK A CONTAINER/INTERFACE PLATFORM IS GOING TO BE BUILT WHICH IS GOING TO LENGTHEN THE MOORING DOCK INTO 720 METRES. ITS DEPTH WILL BE OF 11 METRES (ZH). N? 10 TERMINAL THIS HAS A MOORING POST 180 METRES LONG AND 12 METRES DEEP (ZH). ARTIFICIAL PLATFORMS FOR OPEN-AIR STORING COVER AN AREA OF 5.4 HECTARES AND ARE USED FOR THE HANDLING OF ROLL-ON/ROLL-OFF CARGO. EUROMINE TERMINAL THIS HAS A MOORING POST 153 METRES LONG AND 10 METRES DEEP (ZH). THE ARTIFICIAL PLATFORMS FOR OPEN-AIR STORING COVER AN AREA OF 16 HA AND ARE USED FOR THE MOVING OF SOLID BULK GOODS. LICENSED TERMINALS SECIL TERMINAL THIS TERMINAL IS USED FOR THE MOVING OF COAL, CLINKER AND CEMENT. TWO MOORING POSTS ARE IN OPERATION, ONE 104 METRES AND ANOTHER 98 METRES LONG. THEIR RESPECTIVE DEPTHS ARE OF 9 AND 7.5 METRES (ZH). THERE IS A COVERED 25,800 M2 STORING AREA AND NA OPEN-AIR 13,000 M2 ONE. THE EQUIPMENTCONSISTS OF THREE RAIL CRANES (TWO 6 TON ONES AND A 3 TON ONE). MAURI-FERMENTOS TERMINAL THIS TERMINAL HAS A MOORING DOCK MADE OF TWO DUKES OF ALBA AND 8.5 METRES DEEP (ZH). IT IS DESTINED FOR THE HANDLING OF BULK MOLASSES. URALADA TERMINAL THIS IS A MOORING DOCK CONSISTING OF TWO DUKES OF ALBA AND 6 METRES DEEP (ZH). IT IS USED FOR THE MOVING OF BULK ALIMENTARY OILS. ABB TERMINAL THIS HAS A MOORING DOCK 90 METRES LONG AND 5 METRES DEEP (ZH). IT IS USED FOR THE HANDLING OF METALLIC STRUCTURES MADE BY THIS COMPANY. CONCESSION TERMINALS AUTO EUROPA TERMINAL THIS IS A ROLL-ON/ROLL-OFF TERMINAL WHICH AUTO EUROPA HAS BEEN GRANTED THE CONCESSION TO USE PRIVATELY. IT HAS TWO MOORING POSTS (ONE WITH A RAMP) 185 METRES LONG AND 12 METRES DEEP (ZH). THERE IS A 9 HECTARES OPEN-AIR STORING AREA. PIRITES ALENTEJANAS TERMINAL THIS IS USED FOR SOLID AND LIQUID BULK GOODS PRIVATELY CONCESSIONED TO PIRITES ALENTEJANAS, SOMINCOR AND CPPE. IT A MOORING POST 126 METRES LONG AND 9.5 METRES DEEP (ZH) AND AN OPEN-AIR ARTIFICIAL PLATFORM WITH AN AREA OF 1.5 HECTARES. HERE, THERE IS A RAIL CRANE THAT IS INTEGRATED INTO THE AUTOMATED WALKWAY AND TUBE-NETWORK TRANSPORT SYSTEMS THAT ARE USED TO MOVE MINERALS AND FUEL RESPECTIVELY. SAPEC - AGRO TERMINAL THIS TERMINAL IS USED TO HANDLE SOLID AND LIQUID BULK GOODS. SAPEC-AGRO HAS THE CONCESSION FOR PUBLIC USE. IT HAS A MOORING POST 110 METRES DEEP (ZH). THE OPEN-AIR STORING AREA IS OF 2.5 HECTARES. THERE ARE TWO RAILCRANES (A 16 TON ONE AND A 4 TON ONE). LISSADO TERMINAL THIS IS USED FOR THE MOVEMENT OF LIQUID (FUELS) BULK GOODS. LISSADO HAS THE CONCESSION FOR PRIVATE USE. THERE IS A SHIP DE-GASSING AND CLEANING PARK. THERE ARE TWO MOORING POSTS 250 METRES LONG AND 10 METRES DEEP (ZH). THE OPEN-AIR STORING AREA IS OF 14 HECTARES. IT IS EQUIPPED WITH A 3 TON FIXED CRANE AND A TUBE-NETWORK FOR THE TRANSPORT OF FUELS. OTHER INSTALLATIONS COMMERCE DOCK IT HAS A 37,000 M2 WET AREA AND IS 300 METRES LONG, 110 METRES WIDE AND 3.5 METRES DEEP (ZH). THE EASTERN AREA IS DESTINED FOR FISHING VESSELS AND THE WESTERN FOR RECREATION YACHTS (UP TO 150). IN THE CENTRE THERE ARE TWO MOORING POSTS FOR THE FERRYBOATS THAT CONNECT THE TWO BANKS OF THE RIVER SADO. NAVAL CONSTRUCTION LISNAVE (MITRENA) THIS IS THE CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIRING SHIPYARD. IT HAS THREE DRY DOCKS AND FIVE MOORING POSTS (THREE FOR FLOATING SHIP REPAIR AND TWO FOR THE MOVEMENT OF GOODS NEEDED FOR ITS ACTIVITY AND SUPPLY). THREE NEW DRY DOCKS ARE BEING CONSTRUCTED WHICH WILL BE SERVED BY A HYDROLIFT. STAY - BAR THIS IS MADE OF SAND, ABOUT 5 KM AWAY FROM THE PORT AND WITH NA ACCESS CANAL 12 METRES DEEP (ZH). IT CAN BE SAILED BY SHIPS WITH A LOAD DISPLACEMENT OF 10.5 METRES, UNDER FAVOURABLE WEATHER AND VISIBILITY CONDITIONS AND NEAR THE PREAMAR. THE ACCESS TO THE PORT IS MADE BY A 5 KM LONG CANAL, 180 METRES WIDE AND 12 METRES DEEP (ZH). IT IS SIGNALLED BY FOUR FLOATING BEACONS UP TO FORTE DO OUTAO. UPSTREAM THERE ARE TWO CANALS SEPARATED BY THE CAMPANARIO, CABRA, CABECINHA, CABECA AND ESCAMA DE FERRO MOORING DOLPHINS. THE DEPTHS ARE STABLE, MADE OF EASY TO DRAIN SAND AND SILT.
