AECDIS2000 features a future-proof concept with "Windows looks", easy to recognize from other Windows programs. AECDIS2000 uses the standard Microsoft database, which makes it easy to exchange data with, for example, the Office package. AECDIS2000 is simple to run; all the daily functions are operated from the control unit ! AECDIS2000 is a completely new product, custom-made for Scandinavian circumstances. It is developed and produced in Sweden. AECDIS2000 is compatible with all ADVETO DGPS receivers and other hardware from ADVETO. Includes the NEW GPS-compass ! The PAXINFO continously answers questions like "Where are we?" or "How long time to our destination?" The screens are located so that all passengers can follow the presentation. PAXINFO has its own database and can be programmed with visual and accoustic effects. The full Multimedia in PAXINFO enables also pictures, sounds and movies to be handled. AIS Automatic Identification System AIS - Adveto - History 1993 The very first company in the world with charts and combined marine AIS-presentation? Already 1991 there was an equipment in Sweden called AVMS (Automatic Vessel Monitoring System) = a primitive AIS-system. AVMS was an early AIS-experiment from Swedish Maritime Administration through Bo Tryggo and Benny Pettersson. In 1993, we got a request from SMA regarding AIS-presentation for a test-project in Gothenburg (situated on the Swedish westcoast) with around 10 smaller ships. The primitive AVMS was now left over for the new "GPS-transponder" - an invention from the wellknown Swedish inventor Hakan Lans. This equipment had syncronous transmission and higher capacity. Today it is clear that theese "test-systems" in Gothenburg were the very first AIS-installations in the world ! The software from Adveto was the DOS-based DATANAV - a predecessor to the modern Windows-based AECDIS-2000 system currently brought to market and sold by Adveto. Styrsobolagets Froja here at Saltholmen, equipped already 1993 with AIS and Adveto-system Copyright Adveto AIS - Benefits AIS was invented in the late 1980s. The System was from the start developed for anti-collision and communication between aircraft. The FN-organisation IMO (International Maritime organisation) has recently decided AIS as a mandatory standard for all ships above 300 tons. The timetable starts year 2002 when it is mandatory with AIS for all newbuilt passengerships, in international traffic and above 300 tons. AIS Also for smaller ships Also below 300 tons, there is benefits and a lot to gain with an AIS installed onboard. Today in Sweden, AIS is installed in all pilotboats, many coastguard vessels, small passenger ferries etc. Styrsobolaget in Gothenburg has since 1993 AIS installed in all passenger-ships. Same with Waxholmsbolaget, operating in Stockholm arkipelago - AIS on all 18 ships. AIS look behind the corner Sjofartsverket We have a situation as presented above with two ships meeting. The radars onboard the two ships cannot detect the other ship. (Picture down-left) But with AIS-equipment one can see each other! (Picture down-right) Voice (in english) explaining animation AIS gives correct information Sjofartsverket At the picture on the left, we have a ship, can be a common tanker, with a good radarreflector at the relative big superstructure aft.- When the ship starts a turn to port, at first it seams as if a starboard turn is initated (from another ships radar) The radar gives a false impression for a start, the ship can turn as much as 30-50 degrees still giving false impression. It is evident that an AIS can give correct information with the Heading (Compass) information provided by the AIS-message. Voice explaining animation AIS - Communication It is possible to send textmessages via the AIS-medium. Instead of calling on the VHF a message can be sent via the AIS, to a specific ship or as a broadcast to all ships in range. AIS Surveillance Via the AIS surveilance can be done also from shore. A VTS-station equipped with AIS can monitor all ships in range via AIS. Adveto AECDIS-2000 and AIS Today AECDIS-2000 is the most widely spread and most used system for AIS-presentation in Sweden ! History: In August 2000 the AECDIS-2000 was released with even more AIS-functions than earlier versions. The new system has simplified transmission of text-messages. It is easy to just "click" on the ship you want to send a short message to and to write the short message. The other ship gets the message on its screen instantly! Other news is weather in realtime using AIS ! Just "click" at the weatherstation on the chart in AECDIS-2000 and get full information in realtime presented on the screen. The receivers are remotely controlled from AECDIS-2000 (= ADVETO s new nav system). - The advantage is that it is possible to monitor and control the DGPS positioning straight from the AECDIS screen. - The two-way communication between the nav computer and the DGPS receiver is unique ! (Compare with "standard" receivers, which only have one-way communication with the nav computer.) - ADVETO s customers have used this technology since 1994. - The top models have AIM (ADVETO Integrity Monitoring) which means display on the AECDIS screen of the position quality, expressed as the number of meters (or centimeters) accuracy that the system delivers right now! - The benefit is that the user gets an immediate warning if disturbances should cause a temporary deterioration of the DGPS positioning.
