Established in 1943, Maersk Inc. is A.P. Moller's general agent in North America for Maersk Sealand. Headquartered in Madison, NJ, the company continues to grow and diversify with approximately 100 agency or container-related offices in North America with a staff of 3,000 serving the United States, Canada, Central America and the Caribbean. Shipping operations that originally moved cargo between the United States and the Far East in 1928 have grown into an international total transportation company providing a variety of services. Diversification has been the key element in the transformation of Maersk Inc. from being solely a transporter of goods. Today, Maersk Sealand provides freight consolidation and logistics services, domestic transportation, trucking, terminal and warehousing operations, port and inland terminal management and data services. Maersk Inc. achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2001, the first global transportation and logistics group to receive this upgraded certification. For a comprehensive overview of the A. P.
