Trinidad and Tobago is a dual island country, which gained independence from the British Empire in 1962. The current population is 1.3 million inhabitants, which are spread throughout the country. The economy is dominated by the energy sector, as Trinidad is rich in oil and gas resources. In addition, the country is the largest producer of asphalt in the world as well as the leading Methanol producer for the LNG industry. Maersk Trinidad Ltd. was opened in March 2000 and offers a wide range of container business activities. Maersk Logistics was opened under the Maersk Trinidad Ltd. corporate name in October 2003 and is well underway offering complete LCL/FCL, Air, Brokerage, inland haulage and warehousing services. We are proud to announce the initiation of an Inter-Caribbean service to be started 1st Quarter 2004. This string will include complete coverage for import and export volumes with Jamaica, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic as well as on carriage service to and from the USA. Based on our diverse trading activity, we offer full acceptance of all specialized equipment including 45' containers and can accommodate out-of-gauge shipments. In addition, we cater to the vast fishing industry with all sizes of Reefer equipment including the unique Super-Freezer containers. The country headquarters is located in Port of Spain, which is the capital. We maintain an operations facility at the port of Point Lisas, which is located 25 miles south of Port of Spain. We offer inland trucking at competitive rates to all destinations within Trinidad. All facilities are connected to the Maersk Global Communications systems and EDP network, ensuring that all facets of our business are fully integrated which provides complete support for our clients including, documentation, equipment management, cargo tracking, sales and customer service support.
