With the establishment of Maersk Romania SRL in July 1998, Maersk Sealand is the only shipping line servicing Romania through its own representation. Maersk Sealand offices have been established in the country's capital, Bucharest, and in Constanta - the largest port on the Black Sea and at the entrance to the Danube-Main-Rhine river system, through the Danube canal. A third office will be opened in June, 2003 in Timisoara in Western Transylvania. The Maersk Sealand offices in Romania are staffed with dedicated personnel, ready to make sure that our clients' cargo is well cared for and promptly delivered. The staff are constantly participating in international education programmes, in order to ensure that they at all times can meet our clients' expectations to top-quality service. Maersk Sealand offers weekly sailings to and from Constanta by feeder vessel, connecting Romania to and from virtually any destination in the world via the Italian port of Gioia Tauro. Maersk Romania offers a full door-to-door service with a "One Stop Shop" concept. Door-to-door transport means that our customers only need one partner to arrange transportation of their cargoes from the origin to the destination warehouse. Our own terminal and the control over a fleet of 50 trucks, equipped at latest standards, together with our modern equipment, including reefer containers and gensets, enables us to ensure safe and timely transportation of temperature controlled cargo to or from any location in Romania. The Maersk Sealand equipment, available in Romania, includes, besides reefer containers, hangertainers (for transport of garments on hangers), open top, flat rack or artificial tweendeck containers - for transport of project cargo, highcube containers, as well as the standard 20 or 40 foot dry cargo containers. The on-line Maersk Sealand IT systems, which link all Maersk Sealand offices into a global network, are one of Maersk Romania's main working tools. They enable us to obtain extensive around-the-clock information about container movement and to instantly process cargo-related data, to the benefit of our customers.
