The activities of VOC center on providing clients with high quality ocean transportation of dry bulk commodities. The company focuses on bulk cargoes, such as coal, grain and petcoke as well as specialized cargo such as steel products. VOC operates from Commercial offices in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and Stamford, USA as well as a representative office in Melbourne, Australia through Clipper Bulk A/S. VOC's geographic positioning ensures direct access to all major world markets and local coverage twenty-four hours a day. This structure also forms a strong global foothold from which the company continues to expand its activities. Combining shipowning with the chartering of quality tonnage, the company has built a balanced portfolio of vessels and cargo commitments, enabling VOC to provide it's clients with reliable forward freight cover. With a dynamic strategy of long term and spot chartering, VOC controls between 30 and 50 handymax bulk carriers at any given time. SHIP OWNING VOC's owned fleet of modern bulk carriers between 33,000 and 52,000 deadweight are traded in the spot and period markets through the operating companies of VOC. Clipper Bulk operates VOC's tonnage up to 30,000 deadweight. VOC maintains and ongoing newbuilding program to ensure the company has the quality tonnage with which to meet the changing requirements of clients. Currently, VOC has 5 52,000 deadweight grab fitted bulkcarriers under construction in Japan and the Philippines. In addition, VOC has a long and successful history of working with client-partners in creating advantageous structures for building, managing, leasing and operating vessels. Where applicable, VOC also invests in shore-side equipment with a view to providing contract partners with efficient and cost-effective loading and discharging operations. OPERATING / CHARTERING Parallel to and in support of the shipowning activities, VOC has a dedicated team of experienced chartering personnel. Through the use of physical and derivative hedge positioning, VOC provides commercial partners with reliable forward freight coverage as well as high quality and flexible shipping services. VOC's Stamford office is also the representitive office for Clipper Bulk, acting as agents for all chartering activities for Clipper's fleet of handy size (16-30,000dwt) bulkcarriers in the Western Hemisphere. Through worldwide offices, and in conjunction with Clipper, VOC is in a position to offer ocean transportation from small handy vessels extending through handymax tonnage of 52,000 deadweight.
