Moller - Maersk Group we have established a Quality, Environmental and Safety Management System (QES) to ensure that our customers' requirements and national and international rules, regulations and standards are complied with. The system ensures that all conditions, activities and tasks are planned, executed and controlled according to proper and established quality, safety, health, environmental protection and security norms. The ethos of our system goes back to the foundation of the Group in 1904. In 1993 IMO adopted the International Safety Management Code (ISM Code), which is compulsory for ship owners. Our QES system has been certified by the flag state authority that it complies with this code. Furthermore, it also complies in most respects with the requirements of ISO 9000. At present Maersk Supply Service is working towards accreditation to ISO 14001. The QES system is established on all our vessels. Frequent inspections by marine superintendents verify and audit the use and knowledge of the system on board. It is under constant review and ships receive new versions twice a year. An important part of our quality scheme is our employment policy. When we employ seafaring personnel it is with the intention to maintain a high seniority where possible. Officers as well as ratings have frequently spent more than 25 years with the Group. All our crews undergo courses appropriate for their position. In order to have courses with the right content and quality for our needs, we have established our own training centre in Svendborg, Denmark. Maersk Training Centre has offered education and training to seafarers and other personnel with in the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group since 1978. Office staff frequently attends safety and other courses at the centre. We have a strict policy, which prohibits the possession or use of alcohol and unauthorized drugs on board our supply vessels. Random testing of crews is carried out to ensure compliance. Our safety philosophy is that no person should get hurt when on board one of our vessels and that everyone has a personal responsibility for their own and their colleagues' safety. The accommodation has been increased to take up to 86 persons. The vessel can be fitted with a ROV mezzanine deck on top of the cargo rail. After a short introduction in the North Sea where M rsk Winner performed anchor handling as well as straight supply work, she towed a rig to West Africa. These tasks were performed safely and efficiently despite the large offshore crane on the deck. In West Africa she has been performing sub sea work such as well intervention, manifold installation 170 ts dynamic lifts, suction pile installation from 31 ts dynamic lifts to 110 dynamic lifts , templates and jumpers installation, pipe laying work and moon pool work. The vessel has joined the existing fleet of 56 vessels operated by Maersk Supply Service. Maersk Supply Service News New Maersk Supply Service Safety Plan 29/06/2005 Getting Safety Right for our Crews Maersk Supply Service operates the APMM Group offshore support vessels all over the world serving both the offshore oil and gas and the subsea telecoms industries. These are both very demanding businesses operating in remote and sometimes harsh locations. The work involved for our crews can be hazardous and requires careful attention to planning and the control of risks. Whether on deck handling 20 tonnes anchors from a drilling rig off the coast of Norway, repairing a fibre optic subsea cable off the coast of Japan or the more mundane job of painting a ship s side; all require the same constant care. We want to have safe ships and, in that, our customers strongly support us. Our crews should go home to their families uninjured at the end of their time on board. Safety Action Plan To help us achieve our goal, a new Safety Action Plan for supply vessels has been issued in a co-operation between the Technical Organisation, Maersk Company, London and Maersk Supply Service. This group is committed to operating in a business environment where safety and the protection of human life are important basic principles. The Safety Action Plan will contribute to the continuous improvement in safety for all parties involved in our business and has been prepared in order for the group jointly to progress using common future targets based on current and past performance. This Safety Action Plan includes actions for the improvement of monitoring safety performance, the Company s safety management system and safety culture on board and ashore. Our employees are expected to work in accordance with the safety management system and to perform according to set standards and targets. In addition, improving skill and expertise of those on board at the sharp end as well as line management ashore is an important aspect of this plan. The plan is sponsored by Carsten Plougmann Andersen, Head of Maersk Supply Service; Leif Nielsen, Head of Technical Organisation, AP Moller-Maersk; and Mark Malone, Head of Shipping Division, Maersk Company London. Further information can be obtained from Finn P. Brodersen, SHQE Manager, Technical Organisation, +45 3363 4727. The vessels will be marketed for deep water construction world wide but with specific aim on West Africa. The cranes are fully active heave compensated and will be placed on starboard side amidships enabling the hooks to work over the side as well as over the stern. The wire drums will be placed under deck. Simultaneous with the installation of the cranes in February and July 2006 respectively the vessels accommodation will be increased to accommodate 86 personnel. The multi-purpose offshore support vessel named Maersk Winner is fitted with a 200 tonnes marine crane on the aft deck at the starboard side. The crane is designed for fully heave compensated lifts of 200 tonnes to 1000 meters water depth using double fall wires and 100 tonnes to 2000 meters water depth using a single fall. The crane can work over both sides of the vessel as well as over the stern. Ballast control is installed to compensate the vessel s heel during lifting operations and the operational work criteria for the crane is carefully matched to the vessel s stability and sea keeping capabilities. When not in operation the crane boom stows on top of the vessel s winch garage. In the stowed position there is ample height of between 7.5 meters and 10 meters under the boom ensuring the starboard side of the deck can be fully utilised for cargo. The crane, which will be operated by dedicated crane operators, has several built-in redundancy systems to ensure safe operation at all times. A centerline moon pool, with a built-in wave damping system, is installed on the vessel. Measuring 5.20 meters x 4.38 meters (exclusive wave damping system) and placed in the centerline forward on the main deck. The moon pool can be serviced by the crane or by the main winch for heavy sub-sea lift operations and it can be used for ROV deployment and guideline operations. The moon pool is fitted with bottom and top hatches, which can seal the pool watertight when it is not in use. The vessel has all the features of an ultra deep water anchorhandling vessel, impressive drum spooling capacities intended both for conventional rig mooring systems as well as fibre rope deployment and retrieval. Very large chain lockers, 4 in total of 1,122 m3, are built-in directly under the main winch. The chain lockers can accommodate long lengths of chains of up to 7 inch diameter. All the anchorhandling and towing capabilities, as well as the cargo carrying capacities, are maintained which in addition to the crane capability, gives the vessel excellent flexibility for performing multiple tasks. The DP systems (dynamic positioning system) uses the latest technology in references systems, mainly DGPS and HIPAP hydroacoustics with built-in features for ROV tracking and array positioning. With the large installed horsepower and powerful side thrust capacity, the vessel is able to hold DP position in very rough weather conditions. The vessel has accommodation for a total of 86 personnel ensuring that the necessary space is available for expert personnel, surveyors and client representatives. In the North Sea, she mainly performed anchor handling, towing and supply duties. In 2001, she was fitted out with a 250 t A-frame, Passive Heave Compensator and ROV deck, before going to Angola, where she acted as a light construction vessel in support of the Girassol field development. During this work, she was fitted with 2 work class ROVs and a fast winch and continuously carried around 40 charterers personnel onboard. Since the completion of this contract in 2003, she has been trading the market in West Africa, where her A-frame, large deck and accommodation has proven valuable to many customers. In August 2005 she returned to the North Sea, had the A-frame removed and entered the spot marked. Since then, the rig and vessel have been almost inseparable and Maersk Battler has supported all the MG Hulme s operations in West Africa and the Far East. All the operations have been in deep waters and the vessel s great wire and chain holding capacities, does that each rig move is reduced substantially in time, as the vessel lockers all the additional chain - also giving reduced loads for the rig. Maersk Blazer has been working on contracts in West Africa with a 250 t A-frame and ROV deck.
