Møller - Mærsk A/S - Maersk Logistics - Helly Hansen signs up for advanced supply chain visibility Sitemap Home Forwarding services Integrated solutions Information tools Media room About us Contact Local websites Media room News Country features Subscribe Financial news Awards Print version Helly Hansen signs up for advanced supply chain visibility The European footwear and apparel company, Helly Hansen, has signed up for Maersk Logistics Spective solution. The pilot will initially link two of Helly Hansen’s Asian vendors to the advanced Spective solution and will cover production milestones and inbound supply chain visibility. During the last eight months, Helly Hansen and the Maersk Logistics Spective team have worked closely to identify areas of improvement in Helly Hansen’s supply chain. The Helly Hansen/Maersk Logistics team defined the scope and quantified the value potential of the proposed solution. The agreement between Helly Hansen and Maersk Logistics is an acknowledgement of how Spective will generate substantial value to our clients. At the time of entering the agreement, Helly Hansen was experiencing a number of supply chain challenges such as: Complexity in collating KPIs and performance measurements on key vendors Reduced visibility when performing pro-active management on production milestones Data quality complexity through high degree of manual and random input into non-core systems (excel and other IT applications) Delayed orders resulting in inadequate consolidation and high airfreight costs The Spective advanced solution will initially allow Helly Hansen to capture multiple production processes for products shipped to their European market. This supports Helly Hansen’s objectives of reduced time to market and increased visibility on production milestones such as ‘raw materials ordered’, ‘raw materials quality inspection’, ‘container stuffed at origin’, ‘container departure’, ‘container arrival’ and ‘goods collected.’ About Helly Hansen Helly Hansen is a global company, headquartered in Norway, and is represented in more than 20 countries, with more than 500 individual product lines for men, women, and children. It provides technical clothing for work and action sports, for all seasons. For 125 years Helly Hansen has been at the forefront of product development and innovation. Since 1877, when sea captain Helly Juell Hansen made his first oilskin waterproof jackets, the company has pushed the boundaries of fabric technology. About Spective Spective™ is a leading edge supply chain visibility solution, providing online access to valuable information from all partners throughout the supply chain. Møller - Mærsk A/S - Maersk Logistics - Update: earthquake and flooding situation in South East Asia Sitemap Home Forwarding services Integrated solutions Information tools Media room About us Contact Local websites Media room News Country features Subscribe Financial news Awards Print version Update: earthquake and flooding situation in South East Asia 3 January 2005 India Chennai Delays in Chennai are expected in relation to berthing of vessels. Also, decreased productivity should be expected as a result of slow movement of containers in and out of the terminal as well as occasional gantry breakdown. One of the gates remains closed due to road blockage in and out of the terminal. Therefore, container moves through the gates are restricted and done at night. All the quay cranes are reported repaired, but experience constant breakdowns. Vessels are moving through the channel uninterrupted. All other ports All other ports are reported to be working as per normal. As the situation now seems stabilised, further updates on this site should not be expected unless the situation deteriorates. _____________________________________________________________________ 31 December 2004 India Yesterday's situation remains unchanged (please refer to information for 30 December below). _______________________________________________________________________________ 30 December 2004 India Chennai A tsunami warning for the Chennai coast today 30 December 2004 issued by the Chennai traffic manager has been called off. It has been reported that the port will commence operation from 2nd shift tonight. One of the 6 quay cranes is out of order, whilst the rest have been repaired and now reported working. The sounding survey of the channel and berth has commenced. Tuticorin It has been reported that all staff have been evacuated from the port due to a tsunami warning for the costal area. The port has ceased the operation and vessels are shifted to anchorage. It is expected that the port will release an announcement later today when the port operation will resume. Cochin It is reported that the port is operating . ________________________________________________________________________ 29 December 2004 India Chennai Out of six quay cranes, four are working and two will be working from tonight Wednesday 29 December. The approach road to the Chennai port is still blocked by the flood affecting the gate-in/out activities. Local authorities are working to solve this problem as early as possible. The port authorities have commenced the sounding survey of the channel and berth and expect the survey to be completed by evening Wednesday 29 December. Operations are slow, but working. Cochin/Vizag/Kolkatta/Tuticorin Port operations are back to normal. Sri Lanka Colombo port operations are back to normal. _________________________________________________________________________ 28 December 2004 Sri Lanka Colombo port operations were stopped soon after the earthquake and subsequent tidal wave on 26 December as a safety measure. Vessel operations commenced at noon on 27 December after Maersk Sealand staff had inspected and repaired the gantry cranes. The port has conducted a draught survey to detect any variances on the draught. Traffic and piloting was reinstalled at noon the 27 December. Maldives Port has commenced operations since 27 December in the morning. India Tuticorin While the port is not flooded, port authorities closed all vessel operations during 26 December. The port has since reopened, but due to fear of another tsunami, the port authorities have decided not to open for vessels with a draught of more than six meters. Cochin Abnormal tides of up to 1 meter have been observed, however, the port is working normally. Chennai The port closed operations on the morning of 26 December when a heavy swell of seawater was flooding the port. Out of six gantry cranes, four are now back in operation and the terminal is able to handle vessels. However, due to the reduced amount of operational cranes, only two vessels can be loaded/unloaded simultaneously. Landside operations were commenced on 27 December at noon time. However, no major activity is taking place as the roads outside the port are blocked by traffic and road damages. Tons of sediment are said to be deposited into the channel and port. The weather has so far not allowed a depth survey to be carried out. Bangladesh No adverse impact on operations and no damages to the port or at inland terminals. Oman, Port of Salalah The ports are working normally. All other ports No other ports in West Central Asia were affected by the tsunami (West India, Pakistan, Aden, Hodeida, Djibouti, Muscat, APG, etc.). No other ports in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore were impacted by the tsunami. ______________________________________________________________________ 27 December 2004 In connection with the earthquake and subsequent flooding in South East Asia, Maersk Sealand and A.P. Moller - Maersk can inform that based on all reports so far all operated vessels and crews are unharmed. We have not received reports of any employee casualties nor of damages to operated facilities. However, while we are still assessing the situation in detail, it is still too early to give a status on every single container. In the event that container damages are reported, the affected customer will be informed directly.
