About Maersk Broker In 1914 the shipbroking activities, which are today known as MAERSK BROKER, commenced operation in Copenhagen. From the very beginning, the activities comprised chartering as well as sale and purchase of ships and have over the years developed into a global shipbroking operation, with the main business areas being container, dry cargo and tanker chartering, sale & purchase, contracting of newbuildings, project broking, ship financing and ship agency services. The head office in Copenhagen and its associate offices in London and Athens operate as Maersk Broker Europe, with special focus on shipping related business in the Far East, in close co-operation with Maersk Broker Asia having own offices in Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore. The global Maersk Broker activities employ about 150 brokers and other staff of which about 50 brokers are active in Asia. The wide range of Maersk Broker customers includes a large number of international shipowners, operators and charterers within major segments of the shipping market, as well as newbuilding yards in Asia and Europe, trading houses and a variety of shipping banks and financial institutions. Moller and associated companies, Maersk Broker exclusively handles all contracting of newbuildings, sale & purchase of second hand vessels and drilling rigs as well as chartering of container vessels. Information technology is a major element in providing the customers of Maersk Broker with a comprehensive service. The unique IT platform of Maersk Broker is under continued development in an effort to constantly provide customers and the brokers who serve them with Up-to-date and correct information. Chartering Maersk Broker provides comprehensive and dedicated chartering services within Container Chartering, Dry Cargo Chartering and Tanker Chartering, with excess 50 brokers operating globally from our offices in Europe and Asia. Container Chartering Maersk Broker?s Container Chartering teams handle container Vessels of all sizes and operate from offices in Copenhagen, Athens, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore and Shanghai. Maersk Broker handles all Chartering requirements exclusively for Maersk Sealand and its affiliate MCC in Singapore as well as Safmarine Container Lines. In addition our competitive container chartering activities services a wide range of clients worldwide. Lastly and as a fully seperated activity Commercial Management is provided to a growing number of international owners. Dry Cargo Chartering Operating out of the Maersk Broker offices in London, Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing and Hong Kong for spot and period chartering and from Copenhagen for period/combination deals, our Dry Cargo Chartering teams handle bulkcarriers from handy up to capesize. Tanker Chartering Maersk Broker?s Tanker Chartering team in Copenhagen handles oil, product and chemical tankers up to MR size, primarily on the North Continent and specifically within the Baltic region. As a fully integrated activity the newbuilding team undertakes contracting of newbuildings within all main tonnage segments as well as specialised vessels including offshore tonnage types. A close relationship is established with a number of selected Far Eastern and North European Shipyards. This gives the possibility of matching clients within the respective tonnage segments by marketing market positions as well as off market berth allocations. These projects are typically being developed in close co-operation with the Owners and / or Shipyards where the team is being involved at a very early stage of the planning process, providing consultancy and being a fully supporting member of the decision process. In addition to servicing various Owners, Maersk Broker are also on an exclusive basis undertaking all contracting of newbuildings and sale & purchase of second hand vessels and drilling rigs for A.P. Moller and associated companies including after sales / back-office administration of contracts until delivery. Ship Agency Maersk Broker Agency is represented with own offices in Denmark's three largest ports; namelyin Copenhagen, where the Maersk Broker head office is located, as well as in Kalundborg and Fredericia. Furthermore, agency activities are carried out in Japan with the main office located in Tokyo. From the regional offices in Denmark agency services are provided in all Danish ports, whereas the Japanese ports are serviced via the A.P. Moller branch offices and a network of sub-agents.
