Arkas Transport was established in 1989 with the aim of offering quality integrated services in marine transportation and providing containerized road transportation services to import and export companies. At the same time, the company is meticulous about aligning itself with the constantly changing and developing dynamics of the containerized transportation sector. DEVELOPMENT - HISTORY Arkas Transport began its operations based in Izmir, aiming to introduce and cultivate in Turkey the concept of door-to-door delivery, which is so widely practiced in developed countries. In order to meet the needs of a rapidly growing and developing sector, the company opened branches in Istanbul in 1990, Mersin in 1997, Gemlik in 1998, Kayseri in 1998 and, most recently, Trabzon in 2003. PHILOSOPHY The Arkas Transport service philosophy is grounded in the principles of monitoring developments in the containerized road transportation sector; defining customer expectations and needs; keeping abreast of sectoral changes across the world; and growing in tandem with our customers by using the knowledge we acquire to invest in infrastructure. PROJECT APPROACH Arkas Transport treats all regular or bulky import/export shipments that require specialized equipment as individual projects in their own right. In the context of this approach, Arkas Transport provides customers with know-how, in addition to its transport and warehousing investments. The company also considers it a fundamental step to train and brief the personnel that will be assigned to these operations accordingly. In order to ensure continuity of projects and productivity, projects are first given detailed assessment. On the basis of this assessment operation flowcharts are drawn up, which define the various stages of the operation step by step and the persons responsible at each particular stage.
