Indonesia has a total of 1,414 ports, 135 of which are open for foreign trade. These ports, consisting of both government managed ports and private/industrial ports, and all harbours in Indonesia are under the supervision of the government, i.e. the Directorate General of Sea Communication (DGSC), the Department of Communication of the Republic of Indonesia. Special industrial (dry/liquid) terminals dedicated to particular industries can be run privately on behalf of the DGSC under a mutual agreement letter between each industrial company and the DGSC. As Indonesia is an archipelago, all of these ports are located on islands most of which are in remote areas where communications and port infrastructures are yet to be developed, thus posing problems to ship owners, charterers and cargo-owners in planning ship assignments and monitoring ship and cargo-handling procedures in day to day operations. In these circumstances, you are advised to use a local representative to supervise and protect your interests professionally. Our Services Our company was established in 1996 and offers comprehensive maritime-related services, including Principal Representation, Ship Crewing (crew recruitment, training, employment, welfare), Lobbying and Marketing. Port warehouses can also be arranged for storage of import/export/trans-shipment cargoes We serve all Indonesian islands and ports for ship, cargo and bunkering arrangements We provide crew handling services to arrange transportation, lodging, government clearing, medical attention and interpreter services We are extremely active and influential in maritime, government and political affairs, lobbying for and promoting the best facilities and services for our valued clients What are the charges Government Port Charges, such as Light Dues, Harbour Dues and Wharfage based on ship's GRT are standard throughout Indonesia, as is the Port State Control fee of USD 250. However, Pilotage and Towage varies depending on the location of the ports. In order to assist you in identifying likely port charges, we have provided a basic calculation below. However, for a more accurate total final costing, please contact us. Main Port: Anchorage Dues = GRT x USD 0.084 (Per GRT/Call) Wharfage = GRT x USD 0.111 (Per GRT/ Day) Nav./Light Dues = GRT x USD 0.027 (Per GRT) Out-Port: Anchorage Dues = GRT x USD 0.080 (Per GRT/ Call) Wharfage = GRT x USD 0.086 (Per GRT/ Day) Nav./Light Dues = GRT x USD. 0/027 (Per GRT) Pilotage: Varies from port to port ranging from USD 30 to USD 44 as a basic/ship movement plus USD 0.010 to USD 0.020 per GRT/ship movement Towage: Towage within a compulsory pilot area varies from port to port, ranging from USD 145 to USD 1,700 per Tug/hour depending on the size of the ship, plus an additional USD 0.002 to USD 0.004 per GRT/hour. If a tugboat is required outside the compulsory pilot boundaries, the tariffs range (depending on the horsepower of the tugboat) from USD 92/tug/hour for an 800 hp tug up to USD 328/tug/hour for a 5000 hp tug. Industrial Ports: All-in port charges + towage for certain privately managed industrial bulk ports, such as coal, fertilizer terminals etc vary depending on ship DWT and range from USD 10,000 to USD 40,000 per call. Agency Costs and Agency Fee: These vary from port to port depending on port location and condition, eg up to 5 days' port stay in a main port requires a lump sum of USD 2,150 plus a possible additional USD 500 to USD 900 for remote outports. These costs cover the securing of call and security permits, communication and transportation for officials, mooring/unmooring, clearance in/out and sundries to ensure smooth and safe port terminal operations and speedy dispatch Marine Personnel (Ship/ Rig Crew) ASIA - World's Alternative Supplier Over the last two decades the international shipping community has witnessed a marked decline in the supply of marine personnel from most developed countries, forcing ship owners, operators and managers to look to Asia as an alternative source of supply. Furthermore, due to the increasing shortage and various problems associated with employing marine personnel from some of the traditional Asian supplier countries, Indonesia has become the primary source country for marine personnel for today and the future. Our Services Amas International is a leading provider of competent and experienced Indonesian personnel for employment within the shipping and off-shore industry and it maintains its own pool of some 5,000 senior officers, junior officers and ratings to meet virtually any manning requirement, whether individual, team or complete crew. Depending on client requirements, our Indonesian marine personnel can be mixed with various nationalities. We can also provide personnel from India, Poland and the Philippines in association with our affiliated companies in these countries. We have experience and expertise in dealing with seafaring unions both at national and international levels and with various regulatory authorities, enabling us to advise owners or clients on the suitability and practicality of various crewing options for their vessels. Our services cover recruitment, selection and employment of personnel for our clients and, to support our marine personnel services, we also provide training programmes for our line-up marine personnel. Capability and competency in the English language are the main pre-conditions for entry these are required in our company policy and have been important factors in the success of our marine personnel service. This is particularly true for marine personnel who work on foreign flag vessels where STCW 1995 convention states that seafarers should have the required competency and ability to understand orders and to communicate in English with others in relation to shipboard duties. Our company policy also states that all our marine personnel should be well prepared for the hazards of going to sea and working onboard vessels. We therefore provide a basic marine survival equipment and technique training course which consists of Marine Emergency Response Procedure and Marine Emergency Equipment Procedure , plus a basic marine communications training programme to familiarize trainees with the latest technology available in communications widely used in the maritime sector. All these training courses are compulsory for all our employed officers and crew prior to commencing employment. Our selection criteria and approach to employment focus on three main areas: Skill/capability Competency in English Attitude/psychology/sociology Training Functions Once the client has appointed Amas International as their training agent for new recruits and existing Indonesian ship and rig crew: Amas International will coordinate, provide and run training courses as required by the client for its newly recruited personnel Amas International will coordinate and supervise any mandatory training programme with the authorized training provider as and when required by international regulations and/or by national statutory regulations Recruitment Functions Once the client has appointed Amas International as their recruiting agent for Indonesian ship and rig crew: Amas International will source applicants for the positions available in the client s company by placing advertisements (when necessary) or by other methods to attract applicants Amas International will verify applicant s data including: personal information, education and training, licenses and certificates, travel and seamen books, practical and seafaring experiences Selection Function Once the client has appointed Amas International as their agent for final selection of Indonesian ship and rig crew: Amas International will thoroughly select new applicants based on ability and competency in English (written and oral), nautical and technical expertise (interview), attitude/ psychology/sociology (full session) and medical check-up (through an appointed hospital prior to embarkation) Employment Functions Once the client has appointed Amas International as their agent for employing Indonesian ship and rig crew onboard the client's owned and/or operated vessels: Amas International will hire/employ the selected crew and assign them to work onboard the client's vessel under the client's terms and conditions Amas International will arrange and pay the employed crew monthly salary and benefits (including family welfare) as per the agreed salary and benefits structures provided by the client Amas International will terminate employment with the employed crew at the end of the contract period and/or due to misconduct during the employment period We are taking this opportunity to introduce our maritime-related services to you.
