Situated to the east of Pirinas Point, Negritos is the most western extremity of the mainland in South America. In the cove there is a short pier, but the end of the submerged pipeline (20") is more to the north, 5 miles south of Talara Point. It is about 2,700 m from the shore in a depth of 40 . The marker buoy has a red light, and there are 4 mooring buoys. Ships cannot exceed 213 m loa and 35,000 dwt. Crude oil is loaded and unloaded here but there was no movement at this terminal in 1985.
