This is a berth for loading crude oil, in Gente Grande Bay on the island of Tierra del Fuego. At the entrance, the draught is limited to 36 LWST; the tidal range is 5 springs and 1 6 neaps; there is a double tidal effect with a difference of 2 ? hours, that is 4 high waters a day. Pilotage is compulsory and a local pilot berths/unberths the ship. Mooring and sailing is carried out at slack water by daylight. Sailing by night depends on the pilot s discretion. Towage: Tugs and launches for the lines are obligatory and will be available. Terminal: The size of tankers is restricted to 75.000 tonnes displacement and 250m loa. Ships lie on 255?, both anchors out, and moored to 4 buoys, one forward and one aft with 4 lines on each, and one on each quarter with 3 lines on each; all lines are 120m long. There are 2 pipelines of 16 , 1.350m long each with 12 flexibles. The average loading rate is 2.000cu. m per hour. For deballasting, there is a third line (12 with 10 flexibles) and the terminal can receive up to 30.000cu. m. dirty ballast, though normally not more than 10/15,000cu. m. is accepted. Clean ballast can be pumped into the sea. Due to draught restrictions, ships usually complete cargo at Gregorio. Water is not available but the tug for berthing can deliver 100 tons, if requested with sufficient advance notice. Supplies can be brought by the tug, if ordered in time. In case they are urgently requested, goods can be bought in from Porvenir and sent by road. This is a berth for loading crude oil, in Gente Grande Bay on the island of Tierra del Fuego.
