The Port of Hull is one of the UK's leading foreign trading ports and this position is maintained by a constant programme of capital investment in the development of new facilities and services. The port's position on the north bank of the River Humber also provides a major geographical advantage for transport links in to and out of the UK. As a result, the port has very strong short-sea trade links with Europe, Scandinavia and the Baltic, in addition to world-wide deep-sea services. Hull is also well connected to the UK's national motorway network, allowing a market of 40 million people to be reached within a four-hour drive. In addition, there are direct rail connections to the deep-water berths in King George Dock. Hull is the UK s leading timber port, and is the only passenger port on the Humber estuary, handling some one million passengers a year. Hull offers: integrated transport solutions via the national rail network and motorway system, and also through inland waterway connections to Wakefield, Leeds, Rotherham and Nottingham scheduled night-time crossings to and from the heart of Europe, enabling road-transport providers to maximise utilisation of their transport fleets world-class facilities developed through major capital investment schemes a willingness to work with customers and to assist in the development of bespoke customer-demand schemes competitive stevedoring provided by five companies offering excellent levels of service and with experience in handling a wide range of cargoes innovative responses to logistics 24-hour port security ensuring peace of mind close links and liaison with local and regional development agencies, local authorities and private-sector port users strategic location on the E20 Trans-European Network offering access to and from Russia in the east to Ireland in the west Port Director: Douglas Morrison 01482 327 171 01482 326 283 Humber Ports & Estuary Strategy Slaters Transport Northern Cargo Services Hull Multi-Modal Study Hull Bulk Handling Limited The Humber Forum Limited TTS Group Hull Cityvision Maritime Historical Studies Centre, University of The Port of Hull is one of the UK's leading foreign trading ports and this position is maintained by a constant programme of capital investment.
