GLAMOX - A LEADING LUMINAIRE MANUFACTURER Glamox has manufactured luminaires since 1947. Today, we produce 5000 units a day, and we are still increasing our productivity. Glamox luminaires are spread world wide. They serve in housing, shops, public offices and factory halls, as well as on all types of ships and on offshore installations.Indoor and outdoor, from tropical to arctic climates. This development is founded on a clearly defined philosophy which has been followed by the company from its very beginning : - Glamox shall supply quality products adapted to their function and working conditions. - Glamox shall perform and deliver to satisfy the needs of our customers and users. -Glamox products shall contain economic values. In the long run, purchase of our products will prove to be the most efficient. MARINE / OFFSHORE When we started manufacturing luminaires for marine use, Norway's position as a seafaring nation had reached its peak. Shipyards and shipowners co-operated to build and own the most efficient fleet in the world. This work was based upon scientific research on the construction and running of ships. In this period of time, it was tough, but challenging and rewarding task to enter the market. Some years later the offshore adventure started moving. We were there at an early stage, and got the opportunity to participate in the work to develop equipment for the extreme conditions for the North Sea. Our knowledge about choice of material, corrosion protection and resistance against environmental strain is based upon long term experience and realistic trials. The same criteria applies for our luminaires in the very different working conditions as well as the built-in safety of fire resistance classified luminaires. GLAMOX WORKS WORLD WIDE We have exported marine luminaires for more than 35 years and offshore luminaires for 20 years. Glamox is familiar with the standards and governmental requirements in all countries which have marine and offshore interests and can produce any required documentation if necessary. This means that if a standard is missing one country, we know which standards to build on to supply a product, which will satisfy the customers needs. Our products have even contributed to the settings of national standards. Our representatives in the various countries have two main tasks to take care of. They are our representatives in the markets, but also the representatives of the market and our customers towards us. In this way, they will be just as much consultative advisors and links to us, as company sales engineers. PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT Many of our products have been developed as an answer to a customer problem. They have come from all over the world. This trust in our professional ability demands that we solve the problems. The result is a product development process in close co-operation with the markets with all the user advantages this entails. Competent engineers and demanding customers will continue to stand together in our product developments work. The offshore activity will find itself in even tougher conditions than we see it today when we reach, for example, the Barent Sea. We work with new luminaire concepts in co-operation with shipowners, oil companies, installers and other professionals who know what we stand for. IT IS THE SOLUTION THAT MAKES THE LIGHTING In Glamox we have always emphasised the necessity to be in close contact with people who use our products. This has helped us put the development work literally in the correct light. The result is a broad spectrum of problem-solving quality fittings for practically all purposes and conditions. Good light that does not dazzle is an idea that has made Glamox famous. Simple maintenance, long lifetime, light-guiding reflectors and low energy consumption are other selling points. We are now under way to become a major supplier of effect lighting as well. Glamox fittings are produced in highly specialised production facilities in five different countries. The most important thing for you, however is that from now on we can offer much better assistance in planning and consultancy work. As we said : it is the solution that makes the lighting.
