Leif Hoegh & Co. established its own representative office in Shanghai in May 1996, mainly to provide an eye and an ear into the important Chinese market for its bulk and gas business. After HUAL became a 100% subsidiary of Hoegh in March 2000 it was natural to use this office also as HUAL's channel to China, and HUAL consequently terminated the representation agreement it then had with an external agent in order to channel its future China business via LHC Shanghai. HUAL China is headed by Brook Au, who has been with the company from the beginning. Working with him is a dedicated staff currently numbering 6 persons. Marketing and cargo canvassing is taken care of by Johnny Xia, Laser Huang and Haibin Huang, while Captain Xinghua Zheng looks after operations and Andy Fan is Super Cargo.
