Stone Marine Singapore (Pte) Limited is part of Langham Industries Limited, a privately owned group of companies specializing in the manufacture of custom designed, high quality products for the global marine industry. J.Stone and Sons was founded in 1831 and 'Stone' have been involved in the design and manufacture of propellers since propellers were first used in marine vessels. In recent years, Stone Marine Singapore has specialised in the design and manufacture of high performance propellers for military and civilian applications where maximum speed with minimum noise and vibration have been demanded by the customers. These sometimes conflicting requirements, have required the development of sophisticated propeller designs and adherence to demanding manufacturing tolerances and quality. Our custom propellers are specifically designed for each application, with the main requirements of minimum noise and vibration, combined with maximum efficiency and speed. Specific applications include high speed patrol craft, ferries and luxury yachts. The propeller designs are skewed and raked to maximise the clearances from the hull, skeg and rudder. The radial pitch distribution is custom designed to minimise cavitation at the root and tip of the blade, and to reduce the pressure pulses on the hull, which can be a source of unpleasant vibration. Special sections are used to help with the reduction in cavitation and to increase propeller efficiency. To complement the high specification of design, state of the art manufacture is used to ensure correct adherence to the design with great emphasis on quality control and inspection procedures. Custom propellers are generally made to ISO Class S or class 1 tolerances and are dynamically balanced to ensure smooth running.
