ROBERT LE MAIRE LIMITED was founded in 1931 by Mr. Robert Le Maire who was a Sugar Mill Chemist. In the 30's, Robert Le Maire Limited was an Import / Export Company involved in the sales of Standard Vanguard cars, Bearings and plenty other material for Sugar Mills (Starters, Electric Motors, Pumps etc..). The Company was also exporting Scrap Metal to the U.K. by using its own Shipping Line. The Electrical and Mechanical Division has since been very diversified and offers now various equipment for the sugar industry and the crushing plants. It is in the 50's that Robert Le Maire Limited took over the Massey-Ferguson agency for the sales of tractors in Mauritius. Robert Le Maire Limited is the indisputable leader of the wheel tractor market in Mauritius with more than 60% of the market share, and 1213 MASSEY FERGUSON tractors sold since 1953 ! The Company is now on the market with the 4200 new series. It is interesting to note that the first FERGUSON tractor, Model TE 20, which has been sold in 1952, is still in working condition !!! Robert Le Maire Limited has now considerably extended its Agromechanical Division and offers a very wide range of accessories well adapted to the local conditions, such as tools for soil cultivation, spreading, spraying, harvesting and open spaces maintenance. It is in the 60's that the Company developed its Agrochemical Division, and Robert Le Maire Limited is now one of the leading Company in Mauritius involved in the sales of agrochemical products for the sugar mills and the sugar planters. Since then, the Company has diversified its activities by creating a Printing Division (ROBERT LE MAIRE INTERGRAPH LTEE, Grewals Lane, Les Pailles, MAURITIUS), and a Marine and Sport Division.
