About Us In 1996 Herb Jarrett, a veterinarian pharmaceuticals sales manager and life long boater, took his boat from Fort Walton Beach to the Abacos, in the Bahaman Islands. Herb soon discovered that when his boat was heavily loaded it would not plane. The attempts to resolve this problem saw his vessel in three boat yards and hauled out of the water once. The repair bills totaled well over $10,000. Arriving back in Fort Walton Beach, he was advised to go and see this new propeller outfit which had been established just 6 months ago. He went to see Mark Daily of Coastal Prop Technology who tuned his props. A few weeks later Herb tried his props and his boat had never been so smooth and so fast. Extremely happy, Herb went back to thank Mark and met Terry Ryan who happened to be there. Mark introduced Terry as the man who made it all happen for Coastal Prop Technology. Herb said "could you do the same for me?" This meeting resulted in Herb coming to Australia in October 1996 where he attended an intensive training course at Propeller Dynamics in Southport, Australia. After returning to the USA he moved from Alabama to Stuart, Florida, and started Treasure Coast Propellers. His first Prop Scan arrived in November 1996 and he opened for business in January 1997. Eight months later Herb was so busy he took delivery of a second Prop Scan Inspection System, so he could handle the workload. Herb now has a well established propeller repair business, built from hard work and dedication to customer satisfaction. Most boat owners would like for their boats to have more speed, better fuel economy, and less vibration. Chances are good that improvements can be made in all three of these areas when the boat's propellers are properly tuned. The two most important measures of a propeller's effectiveness are its camber and pitch. When these are not right, performance will suffer. Your boat will use more fuel because of wasted shaft horsepower. Pitch and camber inconsistencies can also lead to cavitation and premature blade failure. Plus it is the main cause of boat vibrations. All of which means your boat is not performing to its potential. At Treasure Coast Propellers, Inc., we use Prop Scan, the latest computer-based propeller measuring system to performance tune and repair your propeller. Your propeller will be measured using the international standard organization's (I.S.O. 484/2) standard and an accurate profile or blueprint will be stored in our computer for future repairs and tuning. Prop Scan measures propeller pitch to 1/1000th of an inch. With Prop Scan, we calculate pitch for every degree of rotation over a minimum of four radii on each blade. This allows us to accurately profile and create a computer image of the surface of the propeller blade. By profiling the surface of the blade we are able to identify those areas that are out of tolerance and correct them. Using the Prop Scan model, these modifications can be made accurately and efficiently with less metal fatigue than with conventional methods. A history of your propeller is saved in our computer so given accurate performance data we can make further performance improvements on future tunings. We can also replace a lost or seriously damaged propeller with an exact duplicate. With each propeller we tune you will receive an ISO class report documenting the pitch and class of the propeller. This report is recognized throughout the world as proof of the accuracy of the propeller. Herb now has a well established propeller repair business, built from hard work and dedication to customer satisfaction. Treasure Coast Propellers Inc.
