A FEW WORDS FROM OUR PRESIDENT We are shipagents in the Canary Island, since 1991 At J.A. AROCHA S.L., we believe that: Our customers deserve nothing but the very best service. By trying to understand their needs and striving to satisfy them we have developed an infrastructure which is aimed at going one step further than just ship agency. We can attend all of our customers? requeriments at the ports of Las Palmas and Tenerife, by acting as a "one stop shop". Our range of services include: - Highly qualified and dedicated team offering an efficent and competent service. - Extensive local knowledge, specialising in bunker operations both alongside, at anchorage as well as offshore. - Off port services: Crew Changes, Spare Parts, Provisions, etc. - Latest technology for permanent communication with the vessels we represent. -Competitive rates for bunker operations. - 900 m2, warehouse for storage of our customers? materials. - Freight forwarding division with preferential rates for our ship agency customers. - Supply of cardboard boxes for our customers in trawler operations. - Comprehensive service and competitive rates. - ISO 9001-2000 Certified through Lloyd?s Register assuring quality of service. We are also pleased to inform you that we have a Japanese speaking agent to attend to the Japanese fleet as well as English, French and Russian speaking agents for crews speaking these languages. J.A. AROCHA S.L., aims to be your ideal partner both alongside and at anchor and will be glad to attend your every requirement, providing you with comprehensive and timely information relevant to your vessel?s call. SHIP AGENTS & STEVEDORES During the course of 1993, after a continuous expansion programme, J.A. AROCHA S.L., included ship agency in Las Palmas and Tenerife amongst its activities. Through the careful selection of professional personnel accruing many years of experience, we were able to put together a highly qualified team, ensuring an efficient and competent service, attending to our customers? requeriments in several languages (English, French, Russian and Japanese) as well as Spanish. Our agency department has represented vessels for companies such as Hyundai Merchant Marine, Fuel and Marine Marketing, Unicom, Columbia Shipmanagement, Pacific Carriers, Taiyo & Rel pacific (Maruha Group), Seascot, Enea Management, amongst many others. Our ship agency can attend to a diversity of vessel calls such as "bunkers only", repairs, cargo operations, off port transits and is able to arrange services such as encashments, crew changes, stevedoring, etc. It is common knowledge that increased competition has led to service levels dropping, especially for bunker only calls. We pride ourselves, however, of assuring our customers quality of service by always placing an agent on board the vessel to liase directly with the Master and by doing this being able to react to any situation "on the spot". It is of utmost importance to us that there is a continuos flow of information between our principals, the vessels we represent for them and our ship agency department. That is why our office, located at the heart of Las Palmas? docks, is equipped with the latest technology. LOGISTIC OPERATOR - ADT At the end of 1999 J.A. AROCHA S.L., moved into its newly built complex. As well as accommodating our ship agency?s offices this new building is the location for our 900 m2 customs approved (ADT) warehouse. It is here where we carry out a whole array of activities such as consolidation / disconsolidation of groupage containers, stuffing and unpacking of full container loads, storage of our customers? goods, spares, stores and fishing tackle as well as coordinating our customers? transport and distribution requeriments. Our excellent location within the port enables our staff to react quickly to unforeseeable problems concerning vessels? operations. By means of our lastest generation computer system with terminals linked to Custom?s mainframe, we are able to obtain rapid customs clearance for our clients? consignments. This computer facility enables us to obtain real time information as regards the status of any given consignment. The supply of cardboard boxes is another service that we offer with the aim of satisfying our fishing customers? increasing demands. This completes a range of services that we try make as comprehensive and competitive as possible. PORT OF LAS PALMAS Located at the hub of the European, African and American continents, the Port of Las Palmas has for centuries been a traditional port for the bunkering and provisioning of vessels en route through the Mid Atlantic. With a strategic geographical location, comprehensive port facilities and excellent conditions in the bay, as well as a first class international airport aiding crew changes and spares parts delivery, the port has continued to grow in order to support the development of marine traffic in and around the region. It is now positioned as one of the most important ports in Spain, if not the Mid Atlantic region as a whole. BUNKERING: Las Palmas is the most important bunkering port in Spain, delivering some 1,5 million Mt. of petroleum products each year, equivalent to about 3 Mt. a minute. The fuel is supplied around the clock through pipeline, road tankers or one of two barges as required. Special discounts on harbor dues are available for "bunker only" calls at anchorage. The barge services available in Las Palmas are fast, competitive and available 24 hours per day, with the larger barge having the capacity to supply up to 1.950 Mts. of Fuel Oil and 450 Mts. of Marine Gas Oil or Diesel Oil, and the smaller being able to supply up to 900 Mts. of Fuel Oil and 200 Mts. of Marine Gas Oil or Diesel Oil. Both supply at pumping rates of 300 Mts. per hour. NAVAL REPAIRS: Extending over area of 170.000 square metres, the naval shipyards are equipped to handle vessels of almost any size. A Synchrolift has been installed in repair yard for vessels of up to 30.000 Mt. dead weight, and those up to 3.000 gross tonnes are regularly seviced in the (ISO 9002 quality assured) dry docks. With several naval repair workshops on site, as well as Classification Societies and Surveyors, all requeriments can be met and quality of service guaranteed. PORTS SERVICES & SAFETY: The services and facilities are provided by the Port and Naval Authorities as well as private companies and are especially designed to optimise safe transit and facilitate operations at berth, anchorage and off port limits. Ports services include a large fleet of tugs, pilot service, stevedores, dock watchmen, a fire department, collection of bilge water and garbage in accordance with international Marpol regulations as well as many others. The port?s water barge has capacity of 100 Mt. and a pumping rate of 100 Mt. per hour. In terms of safety, all traffic movements in and around the port are controlled by the Co-ordinating Service Centre ("Centro Coordinador de Servicios"). This is a cooperation between the Naval Authority, Pilot Service and the National Rescue Operation ("Sociedad Estatal de Salvamento"), the latter of which is equipped with a specialised tug, fast response launch and helicopter, as well as short, medium and long range radars. CALLING INSTRUCTIONS FOR LAS PALMAS: Master must advise vessel's full contact details, last and next ports of call, cargo in transit with full hazardous cargo information if applicable and have 5 crew lists ready on arrival. Master to call "Las Palmas Port Control" on VHF Ch. 16 for instructions on arrival 5 miles off port limits. More information http://www.palmasport.es PORT OF TENERIFE The Port of Tenerife has always been known as a ship service station in the Mid Atlantic where vessels bunker fuel and water as well as a predominatly touristic cruise port. In a similar way to Las Palmas, the Port of Tenerife enjoys a modern infrastructure with facilities for accommodating most type of ships, both alongside as well as at anchorage. Most ship services can be carried out, although bunker supply companies and drydocking services are a little more limited than at the port of Las Palmas. Tariffs are competitively priced and there are two airports on the island to support crew changes. One should not forget that the port of Tenerife is also the home to CEPSA?S refinery which derives in important bulk liquid operations taking place at this port. BUNKERING: Supplies can be organised by pipe, barge or road tanker. There are two barges avaible working on a round the clock basis. The larger barge can supply up to 3.800 Mts. of Fuel Oil and 620 Mts. of Marine Gas Oil or Diesel Oil whilst the smaller is able to supply up to 345 Mts. of Fuel Oil and 300 Mts. of Marine Gas Oil or Diesel Oil. Pumping rates of over 600 mts. per hour can be achieved. There is water barge with 350 Mts. capacity. NAVAL REPAIRS: There is one repair yard which can accommodate vessels of up to 6.000 Gt. in its floating docks and 4.000 Gt and 120 m. L.O.A. in its Dry dock. CALLING INSTRUCTIONS FOR TENERIFE: Master must advise vessel's full contact details, last and next ports of call, cargo in transit with full hazardous cargo information if applicable and have 5 crew lists ready on arrival.
