International Forest Products Logistics Welcome to the Westerlund Group of companies, specialised in serving the logistics needs of the world s leading pulp and paper companies. Our customers enjoy the benefits of our unrivalled experience across the globe, either through our own company owned terminals or via strictly selected strategic partners. Please take a few minutes to navigate through our site, and learn what we could do for your business. We look forward to hearing from you to answer both your questions and logistics needs. Westerlund is a full service physical distribution group specialised in forest products. The company provides a complete distribution package: from stevedoring and terminal operations, right through to forwarding and transportation to final destination - serving the producers and consumers of pulp, paper and other forest products. Westerlund operates marine terminals in the Ports of Antwerp (Belgium), Rouen (France), Changshu (China) and a container freight station at Tilbury (UK). Westerlund traces its origins back to 1903 and its present structure is a direct result of the strategic decision taken at the end of the late1960s, to specialise in forest products. This decision corresponds with the emergence of the pulp and paper industry as one of world's major manufacturing industries and the internationalisation of its markets. Westerlund continually strives for the highest levels of service quality, working closely with customers, staff, authorities and other groups to meet or even exceed the expectations of a changing world. THE WESTERLUND INDEXES The Westerlund Indexes provide practical and reliable information for tracking the development of the paper market in Europe. These Indexes, updated monthly, are designed to aid our clients, business partners and all others in the industry with an interest in monitoring the level of stocks of paper in European ports. The Westerlund Indexes comprise two sets of data, each expressed as an index number: The Westerlund Paper Reels Index (WPRI) This is mostly printing and publication papers, with a small amount of packaging paper and board. The Westerlund Palletized Paper Index (WPPI) This is mostly cut-size (A4) copy paper, but also includes larger format coated printing papers. Each Index is presented as a graph and a bar chart, the latter showing rotation or the average number of days the product is held in stock. This is another indication of the state of the market. About the data: The index number represents the combined total End-of-Month stocks at Westerlund storage facilities in both Rouen and Antwerp. The base year for each Index is the average stock level of the two calendar years 1999 & 2000. Quality at Westerlund is a way of life. Westerlund has achieved many firsts in this area - most recently the simultaneous awards of ISO 9001 and 14001 and continues to invest in systems, procedures and training to ensure the highest performance for our customers. Our aim is to provide the highest service levels with the least impact on the environment and community. So, in addition to the organisation needed to satisfy ISO norms, Westerlund also manages a number of related initiatives including joint quality working groups with our customers, or participation in key environmental projects around our terminals.
