The harbour is formed by an artificial basin limited Eastward by Levante quay and Southward by Mezzogiorno quay. The entrance of the harbour is wide about 200 metres and has a depth of 39 feet variable because of swell. An internal quay running parallel to the eastern breakwater and connected to the mainland subdivides the harbour in two basins. Quays and berths - Mezzogiorno : consist of a quay 365 metres long (berth 1-2-3) whereof 340 only are operative. Max depht is 29 feet.- GRAIN SILOS : Berth 6 length 150 metres. Vessels 220 mts long can be accomodated toward berth 7, which is not in line with berth 6 by 20 W. Largest vessels accomodated 40.000 DWT max depth 29'. Silos capacity 55.000 tons. Berth 7 continued berthy 6. - CRISPI : berth 8 - max depth 29' berth 9 - max depth 26' used for generals, containers, timber, steel trade, lemons, containerships, cargoes. - CENTRALE : berth 10-11 - Max depth 29', lenght 300 metres ; berth 12-13-14 - Max depth 29', lenght 186 + 180 metres used by containerships, passengers, ro-ro. - OTHER BERTHS: used by coasters, small crafts, yachts, ferry.
