In 1990, Den Hartogh opened her terminal for bulk storage, warehousing and handling on the industrial estate in Moerdijk. This site was chosen for its strategic location between Rotterdam and Antwerp and to the European 'hinterland'. The company is located on a site of 100,000 m?? at an open fairway with a draught of 8,40 m. The terminal is specialised in storage and handling of hazardous materials. Liquid storage Storage of bulk liquids can be performed in 30 stainless steel storage tanks with capacities of 340 m? 500 m? and 940 m? situated in three concrete tank-pits. Each single tank is insulated and can be heated by means of electrical heating system. For optimal storage conditions, a nitrogen blanketing system is also installed on each tank. Product-transfer (bottom as well as top) of trucks and containers is performed within sheltered transfer stations. The entire tank site is built under the directives of the Commission for Prevention of Disasters (CPR) and complies to the latest technology and safety standards. Tanks in tank pit 1 and 2 are also licensed and equipped for storage of low flashpoint liquids. Granulates storage Storage of bulk granulates can be performed in 12 aluminium silos with a volume of 200 m? each. All silos are equipped with a dedicated stainless steel filling pipe. Maximum bulk gravity = 1 Drum and IBC flling The terminal has a special sheltered area for filling steel and PE drums from 60 up to 250 litres. One filling point is specially equipped for the filling of IBCs of 1,000 up to 3,000 litres. Filling is performed by a PLC-controlled system on weighing platforms for the most accurate filling. The unique vapour return system, returns released vapours back to the supplying tank. For sensitive products, a nitrogen blanketing system is available. Warehousing Warehousing is performed in three buildings with a total surface of 7,500 m? equipped with hot-foam (inside-air) extinguishing systems. All buildings comply to the highest standard of safety and are built according to CPR 15.2, level 1. Together with trained personnel and a sophisticated warehouse management system (WMS) storage and handling is in good hands.
