Container handling - around the clock HHLA`s container terminals are among the most efficient in the North Range. They justify the reputation of Hamburg being known as a fast port. We are proud of the prestigious 16th Asian Freight Industry Award "Best Terminal Operator in Europe" in 2002. Handling capacities are on the increase Growing world trade is leading to an increase in the demand for handling capacities in large ports. HHLA is prepared for this trend. State-of-the-art terminals, efficient scheduling of procedures, and well-trained, motivated staff guarantee a speedy dispatch and short port time, not only in the container terminals. Two-digit growth The container volume handled in Hamburg has recorded two-digit growth annually. After the river Elbe was dredged in 1999, there was an above-average increase in the attractiveness of the port for our customers. Between 2001 and 2002 the rise in the HHLA terminals amounted to 14.5 percent. The following year witnessed a growth rate of 11.6 percent.
