When I first arrived at Yantian in 1992, it was only a small fishing village far away from the downtown metropolis. At that time, Yantian Port was under construction. Dust danced everywhere and transportation was highly inconvenient. It is a great honour for me to have taken part in the preparations and development of Yantian Port from the very beginning, and to have witnessed the tremendous changes both at the port and in the local district. You may notice that the painstaking efforts and energies of the Yantian people have paid off here and I will always be grateful for their lasting creative and innovative spirits. After a decade, YICT has today successfully entered the rank of world-class terminals. It has become a crucial gateway in world trade. Numerous shipping services to the rest of the world call and depart from here in an endless stream, promoting the development of the eastern coast of Shenzhen and the logistic industry in China as a whole. I hope that you will be touched by the miracles that have happened here, as well as the development of YICT and the spirit of YICT people after visiting our web site. I hope that we shall develop and make further progress together in the future. easyport is a commercial electronic platform using state-of-the-art technology, for the purpose of close communication and efficient cooperation between YICT and the relevant business organizations. It contains functions of B2B, Electronic Data Interchange System (EDI) and Container/Cargo Tracking. The development of some functions of easyport can be traced back to 1996 when "Customs Electronic Release" was implemented at Yantian Port. At the beginning of 2002, to cope with terminal development and the commencement of the Phase III Project, the management of YICT decided to establish a project team to integrate the existing application systems jointly developed with Customs and shipping lines over the past years, into an Internet-based electronic computer system. to be called "easyport". easyport is promoted and developed by internal development and co-operation with external business units. Its application systems will include internal development parts, an external software package, external co-ordinated development parts, EDI, and an interface with external systems.
