Xiamen International Container Terminals (XICT) is situated at Haicang, in the Xiamen Special Economic Zone in Fujian province. It is 292 nautical miles east of Hong Kong and 163 nautical miles west of Kaohsiung in Taiwan. Xiamen has excellent road links to the main industrial centres of Fujian province. In addition to feeding into both Shanghai and Hong Kong, the port is emerging into an international shipping centre. Global shipping lines have chosen Xiamen as one of the direct ports of call in China. XICT has been in operation since 1997. It is the only deepwater port in the Xiamen Special Economic Zone, capable of handling post-panamax vessels and offers a wide range of services. On-site customs and joint inspection services, bonded warehouses, local vessel and cargo agency, container repairs and the ability to handle reefer containers make XICT one of the most comprehensive facilities on the coast between Hong Kong and Shanghai. XICT is now providing several direct line-haul services to Asia, US and Europe.
