Mid-Stream Holdings (MSH), a member of the Hutchison Port Holdings Group, provides an innovative alternative for handling container cargo by loading/unloading vessels anchored at mid stream or tied up at buoys in the harbour. Dedicated to delivering customers with efficient, highly competitive cargo handling services, MSH offers a host of value-added services that reflect on our commitment to all customers, whether they are shipping lines, barge operators or freight forwarders. As one of the largest mid stream operators in Hong Kong, MSH comprises of a team of over 300 staff, a large fleet of barges, well-managed cargo depots, floating yards, and a host of complementary services designed to offer our customers a variety of cargo handling options. MSH currently operates the largest fleet of dedicated barges in Hong Kong which provide full support to both inbound and outbound cargo operations. To optimise efficiency, inbound containers are handled by our facilities at Hongkong International Terminals (HIT) and River Trade Terminals (RTT), while outbound container traffic is handled by Terminal "S" at Stonecutters Island. A full range of comprehensive facilities include: container maintenance and repair, containerised and break-bulk cargo handling capability, container freight station, large inland and near-dock depots for empty container storage, trucking service and marine feeder shuttle services between Hong Kong / Yantian and Hong Kong / Huizhou. Our fleet of container barges is amongst the strongest and newest in Hong Kong. In addition to their modern design, they are all equipped with brand new 400 horse-power engines and double-braking system to ensure greater control over the movement of containers when operating at mid-stream. The derrick outreach extends over 42 meters to allow easy operation of the vessel. As proven by a chartered marine engineering company, we can handle the Evergreen "U" type vessel with capacity up to 5,400 TEUs safely and efficiently by our jumbo barge fleet. Our service is a low-cost alternative to both the smaller ships carrying Intra-Asia cargoes, and the mid-size ocean going ships including Intra-Asia and transocean line hauls. MSH specialises in delivering highly efficient, flexible services to meet the demands of shipping lines and barge operators interested in a value-competitive alternative for transporting cargo. In addition to quality port facilities, MSH also delivers complementary services designed to increase transportation efficiency. Integrated haulage services are provided by our large fleet of dedicated tractors, which are capable of transporting all types of containers, including reefers and DG containers. Feeder services, with EDI connections to HIT in Hong Kong and YICT in Shenzhen, offer numerous daily, reliable shuttle connections. The service coverage has already extended to Huizhou Port from September 2000 to cater for the increasing demand from customers. The Container Freight Station (CFS) located at the Hongkong International Distribution Centre (HIDC) offers additional storage capacity and a full range of cargo consolidation services. Container Depot services at Depot A, in Au Tau, offer empty container storage capacity, while the newly developed near-dock depot at Yantian Port offers additional storage capacity. Both depots are equipped to offer high-quality container maintenance and repair services. In addition, MSH obtains a service commitment from RTT regarding huge backup storage capacity to meet any surplus demand from customers. Besides emphasis on efficiency, MSH pays great attention to ensuring the safe, secure handling of cargo, both at mid stream and at our land-based facilities. Our on-site safety team ensures that all safety standards are complied with, both for the safety of our employees and for minimizing the inherent risks associated with cargo handling. Being customer focused and value oriented, MSH is determined to solidify its role as a dynamic and innovative cargo handling operation. MSH's flexible service and ability to adapt to the special demands of regional routes, will further enhance our position as a competitive alternative to conventional container terminal operations.
