National Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Service provides safety-guaranteed, good quality fisheries imported from overseas through strict hygienic inspection and makes every effort to perform professional and systematic hygiene education for international competitiveness of export fisheries. We are also in charge of quarantine inspection of imported fisheries for transplantation in order to prevent the inflow of any diseases from foreign countries. We are making our best efforts for getting your continuous concern and affection. 1908 : Established the Marine Inspection Institute under the Mokpo Chamber Commerce and Industry Jul. 1924 : 20 fisheries products quality inspection institutes under customs office. Apr. 1933 : Established Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute (head office in Gyongsung, 4 branch offices in Incheon, Wonsan, Cheongjin, Busan, and 30 sub-branches) Aug. 1945 : Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute with 2 branch offices in Incheon, and Busan, and 11 sub-branches) June 1949 : Central Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute under Ministry of Commerce and Industry (3 departments(General Affairs / Inspection / Examination) in the head office and 16 branch offices) Jun. 1955 : Central Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute under Maritime Affairs Office Oct. 1961 : Central Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute under Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (6 branch offices and 8 sub-branches) Feb. 1966 : Central Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute under under Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office (14 branch offices) Nov. 1981 : National Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Service under Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office (11 branch offices) Aug. 1996 : National Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Service under Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Mar. 2001 : National Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Service under Ministry of Maritime Affiars and Fisheries (12 branch offices) 1908 : Established the Marine Inspection Institute under the Mokpo Chamber Commerce and Industry May 1913: Reorganized as the Marine Inspection Institute under the customs office. July 1924 : Promoted to Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute that inspects general fisheries products as well as marine plants April 1, 1933 : Established Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute under the Joseon General Inspection Headquarter of which the head office in Gyongsung and with 4 branch offices in Incheon, Wonsan, Cheongjin, Busan, and having 30 sub-branches Since August 1945, undertaking existing system of the Japanese Colonial Period, in charge of Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute with 2 branch offices in Incheon, and Busan, and 11 sub-branches located in the southern part of Military Demarcation Line.. The organization belonged to the US forces and the Provisional Government. Central Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute under Ministry of Commerce and Industry June 8, 1949 : Integrated exiting national and regionals inspection institutes and reorganized as the Central Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry with 3 departments (General Affairs / Inspection / Examination) in the head office and having 16 branch offices. Central Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute under the Maritime Affairs Office According to the policy that integrated the maritime affairs of the administration, the Maritime Affairs Office was established and the Central Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute belonged to the Maritime Affairs Office in March 22 of that year. In December 23, 1957, a regular number of staff persons (53 people) were assigned for the first time. Central Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry On Oct. 2, 1961 : the Maritime Affairs Office was abolished pursuant to the amendment of the Government Organization Act, the Central Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute became subject to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry with 6 branch offices and 8 sub-branches. March 2, 1965 : Reorganized the Inspection Institute and renamed the departments of the headquarters (Department of General Affairs -> Department of General Affairs / Inspection and Administration Department -> The First Inspection Department / Examination Department -> The Second Inspection Department). Jobs of each department were specified in detail. (The First Inspection Department : sensory testing, The 2nd Inspection Department : physical and chemical testing) Central Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute under the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office Pursuant to the amendment of the Government Organization Act, the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office was established on Feb. 28, 1966 and the Central Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute was attached to the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office on May 4. 179 regular staff persons were assigned to the Institute on August 12. (147 in regular positions, 8 in engineer positions and 15 part-time jobs.) The organization was reorganized on June 17, 1967 and 181 regular staff members were assigned to the Institute. Sub-branches were promoted to 14 branch offices. Renamed Central Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Institute to the National Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Service on November 2, 1981 and three branches in Guryongpo, Sokcho and Donghae were abolished) Renamed the First Inspection Department to the Inspection Department, and the Second Inspection Department was changed to the Analysis Department, according to reorganization on April 12, 1995. Seoul Branch Office was newly established according to the increase of fisheries imported by air. The Hupo Branch Office was abolished. National Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Service under the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office On May 4, 1996, the National Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Service was attached to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries according to the establishment of the Ministry on August 8, 1996. Renamed as National Fisheries Products Quality Inspection Service on March 27, 2001. The Incheon Airport Branch Office was newly established according to the opening of the Youngjongdo International Airport in Incheon and the number of branch offices was increased to 12. Renamed the departments of headquarters on Oct 2, 2002 (Department of General Affairs and Administration -> Department of General Affairs / Inspection Department -> Quality Inspection Department / Analysis Department -> Quality Management Department). The System Department under the Analysis Department was transferred and attached to the General Affair Department.
